Dan,
Is it coloured that your thinking of flame polishing. Flame polishing is only good for clear acyrlic. Others will have to be buffed with a buffing wheel.

it was clear! I bought a hand held gas torch and after a bit of wet and dry rubbing, and a quick lick with the gas!! It looks fantastic

if you can use a scraper it gives a better finish than wet & dry go over with flame a few times do not let it get too hot or it goes like soot is on it just keep going steadily over till px starts to go clear with 25mm can be a long process hope this is of help

after flame polishing you need to be careful not to get the polished edge in contact with any kind of spirit Like meths etc –
the heat from the polishing process induces stress in the acrylic and the spirit will cause small cracks to appear (crazing) you can prevent this from happening by heating up the whole piece in an oven and allowing to cool naturally this relieves the stress in the acrylic – we normally just ensure that we don’t get any spirit or fumes anywhere near

thanks guys getting there now!! I will post a pic when Im done!!
The one thing that I have learnt that seems to be important is to remove the protective paper before using the flame!!
Or you get a residue that is really hard to remove!!
We had to resort to a dremel tool with a polishing head and soap and a lot of hours polishing!!
Thanks should look good when we are done!!
