Flag supplier – advice please?
Posted by Peter Cassidy on February 5, 2024 at 12:27 pmhi everyone
my customer is looking for a FLAG. it is not something i have ever provided and i am clueless about the requirements.
all i know is that it has to be a large, quality flag made to last as long as possible.
any pointers of a reputable supplier would be great.
i have tried Google but what i am finding appears to be novelty type stuff for football teams or bedroom walls.thanks in advance

Not bought from them for a good few years, but this company were very good:

I’ve used Feather Flags Trade in the past for some, simple/cheap flags. I’ve used them for a few other bits and their service has always been impressive.
-
I have used Hampshire Flag a number of times over the years, very good quality gear.

Feather flags I buy from Venture Banners. They are not the cheapest but better hardware and materials used than the cheaper suppliers that persuaded me to buy from them! -
Hampshire Flags, thats who I was thinking of, but could I remember their name? 🙄😃👍

I’ve only used them 3-4 tims in 17-18 years, but there stuff is good! I put some projecting banners streched on powder coated tentioning system on a cinema in 2005, replaced them in 2018/19 ish, the hardware was still in such good nick that I had them re-powder coated and ready to sell again!

well, you can’t ask for a more sustainable product than that! 😉👍

The product appears to be an awful lot more sustainable than my ability to spell in that post!!

I was asked to print about 8 large flags around 2 years ago, but I declined because i did not know the first thing about flags. the customer even suggested i printed them onto banner material but i didn’t think it would sit properly and would be too stiff. i later found out that my latex printer can print onto fabric but again, i dont know where to start. has anyone else printed a banner or do you just buy them from the types of places listed here?

The very few time I’ve been asked, I just buy them in from the above type of places.
Not worth buying a roll of media, and then the finishing of flags is different to what we’re set up for.

Thanks david, that makes sense.
sorry if this sounds dim, what do you mean by finishing. like trimming up?
-
the finishing on flags is different to finishing a PVC banner.
They fold and stitch the edges, and if you’re doing feather flags there’s an elastic sleeve that the pole slides through. To be done properly requires seamstress (if that’s PC these days) equipment.

I have been working on a Hotel project and coincidentally, I have just been asked for flags in addition to everything else we are doing. I was going to decline this part, as it is more hassle than it is worth. But this post has come in handy, so I will let you know how I get on and post up some feedback, should we get it. I have only enquired with Hampshire, so far, but will try some of the others recommended here.
