I’m a bit of a skeptic when it comes to wrapping vehicles. Indeed I once tried to wrap the bonnet of my car and had a complete strop when I failed miserably.

However, a supplier recently sent me some samples of print wrap and clear laminate to try out so I decided to have a go. I printed a random pattern, laminated it and stuck it on my vans bonnet today.

For a first serious attempt I am actually quite pleased with the results.

It looks good Phill. What film & lam was it you used?
Hope to wrap my van soon as I can come up with design.

:lol1: :lol1: Me and Alison are the vinyl wrapping virgins Peter

The vinyl was Metamark MD7 overlaminated with Metaguard 900
    http://www.metamark.co.uk/Pages_dv/digi_md7.htm

To be honest it went on easier than I expected – much "stretchier" and more forgiving than normal vinyl. I deliberately chose to wrap the bonnet because of its compound curves. I reckoned that if I could manage a well rounded bonnet then other sections should be a lot easier in comparison. – but as I haven’t tried any other wrapping vinyls I have nothing to compare it against.

I am suitably impressed enough to experiment some more though. The original plan was to design a full wrap for my daughters car so this will probably be the next project. After that, I’ll probably see if I can get onto a wrapping course for some expert tuition.

Nothing like a well rounded bonnet I say. Nice job though. Just proves it, get stuck in and have a go.

Peter, your avatar does you no justice, sharp as a razor you!

Phil, if you want more practice, my car’s looking a bit shabby (chavs and keys mainly) so i was thinking of a wrap, let me know if you’re passing and i’ll wash it first!

    Phil,

I may be wrong but have you put the print on upside down?

I`m looking at the way the light is hitting the balls and the shadow and it seems like it`s upside down?.

Or was that part of the experiment.

    /runs for cover. 😀

Yes Rod – You’re right it is upside down (unless the lightsource is coming from low level).

Alison noticed AFTER we had finished applying it. 🙄

I was keeping quiet hoping no one would notice 😳

    Sorry mate. 😉

If it`s any consolation, it looks like you`ve done a nice wee job on it. The trick is to keep it going or you end up forgetting as quickly as you learn.

I think the light source is right, if you viewed it from a car whilst shining your headlights at it.
