  • First and most embarrassing records bought

Posted by John & Dawn Roddick on February 9, 2007 at 6:08 pm

The first record I bought was The Lion Sleeps Tonight by Tight Fit and my most embarrassing would be a close contest between The Krankies – Fandabidozie and Starmaker by The Kids from Fame. Go on – who’s next to confess?

Relax – Frankie goes to Hollywood.

I was at school when Radio 1 banned it, so me and my mates had to go and buy it to see what it was about – being so young we didn’t understand. Quite funny looking back at it how a mates parents avoided explaining it to us – probably more embarrassing for them!

    😀

I think the only rule should be that the entries exist on youtube.com and that the judging is based on the actual "you tube" version posted. if you catch my drift? 😀

it will be a vote for the judging based on registered users…

a bit of light hearted fun amongst us die hard sign anoraks? 😉 :lol1: :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

I own a 78. All I Have to do is Dream – Everley Brothers.

It doesn’t count though, because I didn’t buy it. My sister did.

Dawn, there’s nothing wrong with The Lion sleeps Tonight. In fact on a stag night only last summer there was about twenty of us singing that in the pedestrian underpass in Weymouth. Brilliant acoustics. 😀

Sometime long ago, a few of us in the office were members of the "Brittania Music Club". Remember, you got discounted CD’s as long as you bought every month! If you didn’t select, you ended up with the "club choice". Imagine, 8 guys havin a dutch auction on, Rick Astley, never gonna give you up!!. based on todays schecht, does,nt seem that bad.
    Well maybe!!

Still got mine, ebay, here we come.

i think my first i bought was blue something by toyah, was about 11 i think !
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nfgiDzWrKI maybe this one !

my oldest records i have are old pink floyd and syd barret albums, going back to about ’68 (though of course i wasnt around then !)

love the old syd barret stuff though !! effervescing elephant is a fave, kids love it too !

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZNwLzXd … ed&search=

my most embarrassing is difficult, in the early 90’s i did continued to run a mobile disco that my dad had run for a number of years prior to taking a job that meant he couldnt commit to it any more, i bought loads of records that i would’ve never normally bought, jason donovan, bros, etc !! hated the stuff but had to play it, blue monday, frankie goes to hollywood, snap, adamski, and most dance, rave etc was more my thing !
