  • Finishing up on Thursday for xmas

Posted by Ewan Chrystal on December 20, 2016 at 9:57 am

I’ve deliberately put a couple of jobs off until January and have caught up with loads of work these past few weeks so this week is an easy one with a few jobs waiting when i start back. With that in mind i’ve decided to finish on Thu with no rush jobs to do – its bliss.
Anyway just want to wish everyone a good one when it comes and hope you all get a break and chill out for a few days.
Thanks as always to my suppliers, I reckon we have some of the best trade suppliers in any industry. Always willing to help and go the extra mile for us wee guys.

    Ewan

I’ve done the opposite, I’ve been trying to get all my jobs in before xmas so I can start with a clean slate for the new year.

    Which way is better, FIGHT!!!

I think i just like the idea of having work to come back too, gets the ball rolling in January.

As for a fight…..I’m washing my hair that day sorry

We have been trying to clear everything for a fresh start next year also. Not been easy though but getting there. couple of large jobs to go out before close down on Friday and then off till 9th January which is a long shut down but been doing it the past couple of years now, staff like it so works well for all… The key is to shift the work load before shut down though.

I personally have had a manic past month and still is till Friday. Had an ISO 9001 audit being done on us last week too which we passed with flying colours so the hard work has been worth it.

I will welcome the break but doing anything but putting my feet up. lots happening behind the scenes of UKSB/G so i will be glad when its all done.

Been a crazy busy one for us here too with last minute jobs being confirmed left right and centre.

Only several hundred Sqm of printing left to do on a range of materials, a load of CNC cutting and some fabric printing off course!

I get a well deserved day off tomorrow looking at new kit to stream line our workflow. ( watch this space)

I would like to take a minute and Thank everyone on the boards that’s has supported us and used us for a variety of jobs though out the year, it’s been a pleasure working with you all.

Hope everyone get a much needed rest over Christmas.

Il be keepin her chappin right through, one man band and more time off means less money, took delivery of a cnc laser last week so plenty time to play with it, nice few jobs to do between Xmas and new year to pay the bills.

I used to think my old man was strange never taking days off telling me he enjoyed working, I think I’m turning into him!!

We’ve been busy too the past few months.

Got a site survey to do today, for an installation early hours of the 3rd, after which we’re going home again, and returning on the 4th. Got a van to install tomorrow and then heading home.

Coming back in the new year to a few nice jobs. I’m looking forward to the break, although I may be in between xmas and new year to paint the walls.

Order your media & inks tomorrow, because after that you’re going to struggle & good luck 😆

Metamark are doing a range of Wall coverings, which we’ve tested, you can print on their high tack and laminate with a textured lam, or they do a wallpaper, the ink didn’t scuff as easily as mactac’s media when printed on our solvent machine.

This is the first year that we managed to finish early. I had to slow it down deliberately as we have just moved to a new larger unit. We managed to get it all done today, it only took 2 days so our holiday starts now. It’s also nice to have work to come back to.

Well today hasn’t gone quite to plan 🙁

All ready to install the van today, and my dad’s ended up with an emergency eye appointment with speckled vision in the eye he had a cataract removed from, so van sent away cleaner than it arrived but with no vinyl applied.

Other than that we’re ready to shut down, and I’m now sat making an annual hard copy backup of our file server

For those who remember me, Merry Christmas from someone who’s now a Postman! Just thought I check-in, not ruling out a return to the industry but for now it’s on hold lol

I hope you all have an enjoyable time over the next few days, I will be working Saturday Xmas Eve!

Merry Christmas to you to David – hope to see you back in the sign business at some time in the future

I’ve just completed my last job of the year and will now be winding down for an early finish today and I won’t be starting back until the 5th January. I’ve a busy start to the new year with plenty of work already booked in so need to get some rest. :awkward:

Stopping for Christmas implies that you are actually working & as I don’t really seem to have done much this past year I can’t really say I will be stopping for a break :blushing: :blushing:

Dave, sure I haven’t been getting all my mail since I moved, can you check for me 😆 😆
