    Hi all
As my Aussie mates know Our children asked my wife & I to move to NSW with them, now this seemed like an easy thing to do as time spent with family can never be overestimated, but boy has this been an adventure. Our furniture was loaded in to a large van on the 20th of May it was the wettest day since the early 1970. Our son & I left for NSW in separate cars he had the food in his truck. After about an hour his truck broke down and we decided that as the furniture was due the next day I should continue and so the drama began. I arrived at our new home about 9 hours later we live down 10 kilometers of dirt road 4WD only there are 3 river crossings to negotiate no bridges.when i awoke on the Wed morning I found I was isolated by flood waters only 1 set of clothes which I was wearing, no food lots of water. No furniture, no phone land line or mobile and so it was for the next 10 days, we have 1 neighbour who kept the dog & I fed ( lost 7 kilos) the family arrived after 2 weeks but there was no sign of our furniture so we all slept on the floor and took turns at sitting on the only chair we had. It took 4 weeks for the furniture to arrive.internet was connected today hence my little sharing effort.
As we are in the wilderness, the government provides us with satellite broadband cost the government $2750.00 we have no mobile phone service, only 2 radio stations, no television no sewerage no water, but despite all that we are very happy.
I must admit I have missed UKsignboards.
    Cheers all
    Mike

glad to hear your OK mate, that sounds like a hell of an adventure to move home. 😮

good to see you back on the boards Michael…
one question though, if you are now in such a remote place, will business still tick over as normal ?

Hey Michael. Really pleased to hear from you again.

Is your email address still the same?

Sounds like you have a real adventure mate. Hows Gloria doing. Be glad to be near the kids I guess.

Thanks for touching base again. I must confess I was starting to think we would never hear from you again…. 🙂

    Take care mate.

    Love to your lovely wife.

    Cheers
    Shane

Michael, your story reminds me of when I lived in Africa years ago. Some friends of mine moved to a ‘new’ property 40 miles into the bush, and invited us over. It was completely cut off in the rainy season, and ‘off road driving’ it was, in every sense of the word.

But it was a stunning place, and our friends became world renowned for setting up this

    Fond memories!

    thanks for the kind thoughts.
No Rob Business has now moved in to the almost completely retired section, my health was going backwards and so my disability pension kicked in. we are still doing 1 or 2 small jobs a month.

Yes Shane Email address is still the same and when you and your family visit we will pick you up from wherever,,, getting really good at this 4wd stuff
Hi Barbara funny thing is when it is happening to you you tend to think it is only happening to you, it took several days for me to realise that the family whilst still in Brisbane had no furniture either but the could go visiting.
    cheers Mike
