    Hi there everyone..
customer has a good high quality tray sign above his premises and wishes us to reuse it by removing existing located lettering, covering with vinyl and replacing with lettering which is again located along with some vinyl lettering. He told me this was done at his last shop, and the holes were filled first.
would anyone know of a good way to do this so they don’t show after vinyl is applied…be most grateful of any tips.

I haven’t actually done this before Cheryl but I would imagine Isopon would do the job….you may need to stick a piece of dibond or similar inside the tray first and then fill the holes with this…

I’ve had a few of these customers too Cheryl 👿

I’d suggest that he takes a long walk off a short pier. (In all seriousness really!)
Working off a ladder bodging an old sign; it’d cost a fair old bit in labour and won’t look as good. It also reflects badly on your business so park the signwriten van well out of the way and wear dark clothes 😀

I have just had to do a similar thing on a recent job I used car catalloy filler and had an aerosol mixed up to the ral number that the tray was.
It’s a bit of a hassle off a scaffold but it looked alright by the time I had finished.
The tray we were working on was less than a year old so the colour was still fresh
The customer actually asked if we could just put little circles of vinyl over the screw holes instead. Sadly I’m not that unprofessional so he reluctantly agreed to fill and coat over but didn’t want to pay for a new sign.

Problem with using a car type filler is getting the finish right which can take a bit of time, seen it before when people think they have it perfectly flat as soon as a coat of paint goes on you can see exactly where the filler is.
Other problem could be drilling fresh holes for new lettering accurately if some of the holes fall on the edge of the filler.
