I thought i would make this quick post to highlight that posts asking for a Font ID would be much better indexed in this forum if a simple standard process was used when making the post. By this i mean…

    ———————————–

    1. font id?
    2. font id needed?

    3. Paterson: Font Identification help please?
    4. Samsung: Help Identifying this font please?

    ———————————–

Examples 3 & 4 are simply giving a bit more detail in the topic title, which helps distinguish between "multiple Font Help" posts when being listed, and It will also generate more clicks for potential help.

You will notice i have used a word/name at the start. This is nothing other than the word that is used in the image you are trying to identify the font in. If this part alone was used in the title, the topics could all be exact same name with exception of the first word, again making it easier to identify.

    see example:
    ———————————–
    1. Black Owl: Font Identification help please?
    1. Red Swan: Font Identification help please?
    3. Pink Elephant: Font Identification help please?
    ———————————–

You also have to keep in mind, when a post is made in "any forum". 7/10 times it is asking a question, advice, help, whatever. there for some effort should be made in the actual post title and main message body.

an example of typical posts i often see and i simply do not respond.

    ———————————–
    "Printer help needed????"

    As topic states…
I am getting banding blah blah blah
    ———————————–

Not only is the topic title non-descriptive and most likely posted in the wrong forum.
but it is so half-ar$ed, they cant even be bothered to type a proper description, or repeat the topic title in the main message body.

Please keep in mind, i am not the only one reading and thinking this. If we are asking for people to contribute their free time to a post or help with a problem we have. it is only courteous that we make some form of effort in asking properly.

This is NOT a complaint directed at anyone, it is simply a trend across the whole site that many do not realise or give much thought to. This is why we actually had code added to the site at our cost, to "force" longer topic titles being made. Unfortunately, the same cannot be done with Signapp as it is a different software entirely, so we are seeing some short, no helpful titles being made via the app. We will round to the code fix there too, but in the mean time it would be great if we all could give a little more time or thought to making initial posts on UKSB.

    thanks for reading! :smiles:
