  • Festive period, who’s closing up and who’s working?

well its getting nearer…. John Singh has said just said he is off to Lanzarote, so wondered who is taking a long break and who is working?

we normally take 3 days between christmas and new year then back in on the 4th. (depending on the days it all falls on of course) nothing confirmed this year as yet but thats generally the way it goes due to work load.
even if we are not over busy, we still make use of the time to clear workshops, fix niggles in workshops and anything needing addressed. (i personally have a list) :lol1:

just wondered what everyone else is doing and why?

Eww, I wish I could set employees to clean and tidy, get rid of old stuff etc, that would be such a luxury, instead it is me ‘saving’ everything, ‘just in case’, but I do watch what you lot are up too, and take note….

I don’t shut down, not that people are lining up for signs anyway.
At my part time job I work up until the 22nd, then come right back the 27th.
I’m thrilled because my boss has decided to go to Disney so that means I get a whole week off starting January 3rd.
    Love…Jill

i think we had slightly longer last year for some reason, but then came our winter "mid January" :lol1: and the whole country had another month or so off, so get in there while we can. so to speak… :lol1:

Finishing up on Friday – then off until the new year. It won’t all be rest and relaxation though – Alison’s already got a stack of work planned for me to do around the house while we’re off 😕

I guess it depends what comes in, when, how urgent etc. if it pays well I’ll have no probs doing it anytime that doesn’t eat into planned family time – of which I’ll take as much as I can!

non urgent can wait. most is non urgent but despite this year probably being my best (i’ve already overtaken 10/11 figures), If i need money, I need to work!

Finishing on the 24th back in on the 27th then New Years day off. Mix of 14 vans & trucks to be written before Christmas due to the new emission laws coming in to force in 2012. Also a load of signage for local college & new business center

Seeing how things pan out this week, this morning things were looking quiet so we planned a general tidy up and work shop stuff but as of 5.38PM we’ve got quite a bit of work to do.
Looks like a Friday finish and a 3rd of Jan restart. I’ll have to pop in though over the Christmas to do a few little bits and pieces.
Had an inquiry today for a part wrap to 7 vans in January so hope that bodes well for 2012.
It’s been a busy year but we’ve also been stung for a few grand which is a pain in’t bum!!!!
Looking forward too next year and NOT spending as much on kit as we have over the past 18 months!
Hope everyone has a successful 2012….enjoy your festive break.

I was hoping to visit my brother in the States for the duration but looks like I’m staying here now 🙁 I’ve got a customer who wants a network install between Xmas and new year anyway so I’ve decided to work through…

Phew what a month and I am dead on my feet, been working 3 weeks solid day and night, all day on a large window graphic installation for a new school (pics etc to follow) and nights doing regular work and I had a full time helper. First time having full time help, he’s self employed and young and has been a rocky couple of weeks but it was still a help.

As for shutting I finished up the big job today at 12 and by 2:30 I was physically and mentally drained, sent my helper home and locked up and am forcing myself to close for 2 days next week even thought I still got tons to get out for first week Jan so working next week Thursday and Friday to try stay on top of it but am going to have to pop in daily to send another 10m length of vinyl through the cutter hoping it doesn’t jam 🙄 :lol1:

Anyway that’s my December in a nut shell, looking forward to 2012.

(Was hoping to get to 5000 posts before the end of the year but haven’t had much time, oh well something to celebrate in the new year)

    Cheers

    Warren
