• Fed Up With Signs

Posted by Pryam Carter on July 31, 2006 at 4:11 pm

I think l’m in desperate need of a holiday to recharge the batteries. I’m really fed up with it all at the moment.

Anyone else going through this faze?

Maybe it’s just the hot weather.

    I feel the same Billy.

Trouble is I only came back from holiday 2 weeks ago. 😎

I’m going through a stage of ‘there must be easier and less stress full ways of making a living’

The extreme heat over here is very draining, very hard to get motivated, seems to be cooling down now thank god.

Get yourself on a plane to somewhere nice mate. 🙂

    I don’t mind signs – it’s the customers I don’t like 😕

I’m with Phil on this one. I love making signs, it’s just that customers don’t want the signs I want to make

found it very hard to find my get up and go recently, but I really think this is the best job in the world most of the time, apart from as Phill say’s is the customers who mess up your day 🙄

I just got back from 2 weeks in Florida
(including Disney, there were more UK folks there than US ones!)
Before I left I was booming busy, as before any holiday.
Today I had 6 customers in one day, who all ordered signs!
    This is unheard of.
I’m glad to be busy, but it’s hard to get back into the swing of things.
Got realllly sunburnt while away and I’m peeling like a lizard.
We are having a heat wave too.
I love signs, but hate customers!
    (well most of them)
    Chin up Billy.
    Love….Jill

Good to have you back Jill.

I am a little flat myself. Got to laugh at you guys complaining about the heat tho. A typical summer day here is in the mid to high 30’s with high humidity.

I find it leaves you pretty lathergic on a really bad day.

Worse, when you are doing a job in a holiday town (gold coast) and everyone around you is enjoying themselves at the beach or relaxing in the shade and you’re working….

I off in October for my New Zealand 2 week break. Can’t come quick enough in some ways, but I need more work to get some more money for spending. A catch 22 really.

    Take care guys.

It will be winter over there before you know it, and the cooler days will make it easier to get a days work done….

…. now I’ll have to go and sit in front of the heater to thaw out. Only going to get to 20 deg c here. Don’t know how you guys work in such cold weather. :lol1:

Hey Shaney, my brother won a holiday in New Zealand, so he’ll be there in October. I’ll tell him to keep an eye out for you! 😉

I’ll be the lost tourist looking guy with a wife shooting video, and two kids saying… ‘are we there yet!’

I’ll look out for him too. Does he look like you? If he does, I’ll probably only recognise him when he has a beer to his mouth unfortunately 😉

I reckon I’ve only been working at 50% efficiency during the hot spell. The trouble is that now we have cooled down a bit I’m finding it difficult to get going again.

It’s not because I’m fed up with signs though – it’s just laziness. 🙁

My missis booked a holiday or us the other week, l’ve six weeks to wait!!! I’m really looking forward to that, Southern Italy.

I agree with the "it’s the customers l don’t like", one of my customers really did my head in yesterday and he still owes me £700, he has done for over 90 days!! I wanted to punch him in the face, maybe l will once he’s paid me 😀 😀

But Lorraine, you’ve just had a holiday. you should have come back all refreshed, full of new ideas, and raring to go. 😀

I feel like this every day! 😀 I just hate work full stop. I need to win the lottery so I don’t have to work. I think I should have been born years earlier when wives/mothers were expected to stay at home and cook and clean and look after the family. I’d be happy doing that!!!!!!!! Thats much better than doing a vat return!

I’m not going on holiday until October …… can’t wait to get away.

It’s strange, but I’ve lost my go in the IT job….I’m stuck in Wellingborough at a desk in a more or less empty office! My signs are what keep me going! Twice last week, I found myself looking for some other sign or design to make when I’d finished whatever I was working on! Here you lot are complaining about signs…..yet I’m the opposite! Maybe it’s because my signs are a break from the norm?

Yeah, right! I left my ideas somewhere over Europe I think!

Let’s all go on holiday to find Billy’s deadbeat client and punch him in the face!
    Doesn’t that sound like fun?
    Better yet…
Let’s all pitch in and rent the colliseum.
We can trick our PITA clients into thinking they’ve won a free trip.
Of course they’ll go, they’d take crap off a shovel and it wouldn’t even have to be warm!
Once they get there, we can feed them all to the lions.
    OK?
    love….
    Sweet Little Jill.

Mate, I’ve just been paid by a client I’ve had for 9 years, and that owed me $5500 in 120 days.

I was nice to him, my dad was straight with him, and nothing I did made him come to the party. He had the money, but didn’t want to part with it, probably because it was end of financial year, and he needed it for his tax bill.

I called in the debt collector, and that gave him a scare, and I got my money (or my mum did anyway, but that is another thread)

Sure I lost a client, and that is unfortunate, but sometimes these guys actually cost you money to keep as a client.

Mine cost me 30% of the bill that I had to give the debt collector..

Next time I’ll not be so nice, and start making noises around 45 days at the latest. Hopefully there will be no next time tho…. 🙄

Hope you have a good holiday in Italy tho mate.

yep Phill im with you there ….ive got a couple of rasor blades …and a bottle of bud at the ready !!! .On a serious note (atually i was serious ) i am totally "scunnered "with it all myself ..i was just saying that to Shane last night . I should have stayed in Brisbane and swept roads or something (wife was homesick …or we would have never come back (:) (:) Liz if your reading this which i very much dought cos you dont have a computor …sorry …but it had to be said 😀 😀 😀 ) . iI would no dought made more money than this …..everybody seems to be scraping after the same jobs …theve all got one thing in common in this town and that is there determened to make as little as possible on a job just to get it ….wheres the logic in that !!! it aint for me ….i must be worth an estimated value of £2.50…. 😀 😀 😀 …hmm now wheres that taxidermist course i was looking at it …i might aswell stuff something rather than getting stuffed all the time 😀 😀
