    Hi all,
Since buying my colorcamm I have been asked many times for different types of full colour fonts that have been done by a gerber edge. I have looked around for simular fonts that can be used with the colorcamm, and have been told that fast fonts are a good start. However,
no one I have talked to so far can give me a sample and I don’t want to just go by the suppliers recommendation. I have thought about using plugins to corel draw but decided not to go down that path. So, if any one has fast fonts and can give me their opinion and maybe a sample I would appreciate it.

    Thanks

    Jim

    Hi Mike,
I have already been in touch with beacon graphics about the fonts, and these are the ones that can’t send me a sample, and they have given me the price which is expensive at £220.00 plus delivery. they look good and i think they will give me the edge on what my competitors do in the area, if i knew any thing else that could do the same i would go for it.
all i want is a sample so i can see if it will be worth the money,

i have photoshop with “eye candy” as a plug -in. works a treat.. you can get tons of great effects.. water dropping off letters, wood, even letters on flames.. all very easy to apply. or you could just create something from photoshop.. corel im sure is more than capable of the same thing with the same plug-in.

signlab had a disk with about 16 bitmap fonts.. excellent stuff & easy to use.
    ide give that a try.

the thing is these days. when you see the edge fonts out and about you know.. hey somones got an edge. its the same 20 fonts or so every time. using the plugin you can apply these effects to any font you have! 😉

    Jim,

You could try going right to the source to secure a sample. Not sure he will accommodate, and not sure the contact information is still valid (was in early 2000, but haven’t check recently), but it might be worth a little effort before outlaying for the entire set. Post back your findings if you care.

Just as an aside, I’m with Robert. Create your own stuff using Photoshop/PhotoPaint and set yourself apart from everyone else. I’ll go even further and say forgo using plug-ins in most instances. “If” one knows the program, most effects and looks can be achieved with the tools provided. Going that route allows you to make changes far more easily when compared to most plug-ins. I’m not knocking plug-ins, they are great if you don’t know the software or want something quick and dirty, but usually lack in the little” extra” one can do when not using them. (and this view isn’t related to “all” plug-ins, just some)
