I did this fascia on Friday afternoon, freezing cold.. bbbbrrrrrrr
We cut & supplied flat-cut mirrored Perspex letters mounted onto flat cut black perspex creating an outline for the mirror.
The border and phone number were done using mirror vinyl mounted onto black vinyl to increase the life.
I know you will be thinking why black outline etc when the fascia is black.
Well thatโ€™s what I thought too, thatโ€™s what the customer insisted on and when I seen the state of the painted wood fascia board & ify lights I just got on with it..
The finished result (although far from my cuppa-tea) wasnโ€™t just as bad as I thought.
Even if I do hate silver and black together.. Very mad-max!

it always amazes me when someone doesnt mind doubling the price of flat cut letters with an outline, but wont spend a few quid more on a decent backing board & lights. ๐Ÿ˜• not only that they kitted the entire shop out with new flooring, shelving, lighting etc etc ๐Ÿ™

I know what you mean Rob ! It looks fine to me if thats how the customer wanted it ๐Ÿ™‚
Just a couple of points though-
    a) I always thought the mirrored acrylic was only rated indoors ?

    b) How do you stick those reverse mirrored letters to the black, or to locators either come to that ? I had a problem with the normal adhesive disolving the silver and vhb tape just fell off after 24hours ! I used epoxy resin in the end.

hmm not sure on the perspex life mate. you got me wondering though. ill have to check on that. i could have used vinyl on the face of the perspex if that is the case. i know the vinyl is short life but if mounted onto another vinyl it increases its life many times.. silver stands up better than gold mirror.

ive just used tensol on the locators to black perspex and i have used a very thin “strong” doubles sided tape. i never get any problems with this tape & i have been using it for years now. having said that, it will be interesting to see how it performs with the mirror backing. ๐Ÿ™„

I know what you mean Robert about silver on black, a salon near where I live has an A board done in silver on black and its about as easy to see the words as blackbird at night!

Still, its turned out to be a very classy looking sign. Nice job! As you say, some fancier lighting would have been nice, but then the customers is always right I guess.

    Cheers, Dewi
