Well, ive finally achieved a dream!! For 13 years I had been looking for a Mini Pickup worthy of a magazine feature. Last year Mini World came to take pictures of my car the month after it was finished, and this month it has finally appeared on a 4 page feature!

Love it! Miss my poor wee mini.

A friend has a heap of rotting minis including 2 pick-ups and 2 vans. I wanted a pick-up as a restoration project but he wouldn’t sell, unfortunately they are probably past it now :o(

I had an old mayfair that I went to town on, make it look fantastic but never could stop the foot wells flooding when it rained!

Never saw one of those but it’s pretty cute.
And cool that it got into the mag!

Nice one Paul. A clean looking Mini.

I can’t tell from the pictures, but does it have the plastic trim along the sill and around the wheelarches?

No, we put it on and decided it didnt quite look right so took it back off. The car looks standard but under the skin is running a 1400cc race tuned engine, KAD quickshift gearbox, high lift cam, and 4 pot racing brakes (quite hard to get under 10" wheels!).

I love that! That’s exactly the sort of truck I’ve been saying I want – really small pick-up. Wonder if we can get them to start importing them here? A few years ago Mini Coopers were an oddity here, now they’re everywhere – outselling the Sherman Tanks everybody used to want, thank God.

Nice restore job Paul and I bet it goes like sh!t off a chrome shovel, my mate had a mini with a 1300 GT engine in and that moved, but I remember mine and the back pain I would be left with after a long drive mind you the cobras look a bit more comfortable than the standard seats.

Classic mate! 😉 A mate of mine did the same with an escort a few years ago. He painted it bright yellow and the gear stick was a can of Carlsberg! 😀

the mini pickup up was a factory job, not a conversion.

It was the first pickup I ever drove, I seem to recall it was a bit nippier than the car, as it was a lot lighter.,

Yes the Pickup was indeed a factory standard vehicle, ive got another in the garage that I was going to restore but just dont have time.

The back end can be a little frightening with a 120bhp engine in a car with no weight in the back end.
