1200mm diameter logo, 400mm high letters.

Done in Jan at the new home of one of our clients.
We’re just moving into their old home.

All in dibond, fitted with the help of Charlie at Signature Signs Bradford.

Airbrushing on the logo by none other than Brian the Brush.

Nothing boring about that Chris, it looks great. How did you go about attaching the lettering to the corrugated panels? I can see some sort of strip behind the letters, but would be interested to know the technique. 😀

Letters were bonded to clear acrylic strips and the whole thing was then tek-screwed up. Like you say, corrugated building – and the client did not want a flat panel sign.

Like dewi said mate.. Nothing boring about it mate.
    Work well done! 😛
Before I go on.. Im glad “Brian the brush” did a part of it.. Ive been asking this man to show some of his work for the last two years 😀 .. (Brian! Come on mate, ive heard you’re very talented.. Stick some of your stuff up in the traditional forum please!) 😉
Back to the sign, I see you have used either coloured strips of Perspex to locate too or used clear. I try and fix through the face when doing work like this. It is faster and much easier.. The fixings aren’t seen because it is so high up & are normally hidden by black screw caps or the like.
The only thing I feel I would have done is raise it all about a foot or two..

As has been said about the legendary Brian the Brush – ‘the force is strong with this one’

Re. the positioning of the signs I don’t think the fitters’ ladders were long enough!

Oh well, maybe we can have the next building lowered before fitting!

I’ve been making signs for over 18 years, everyone should know how letters are attached to corrugated panels by now!

Sorry, i don’t agree with that statement. Being new to the trade, i have found this site very helpful and informative and besides, it’s showing work that fluid’s just done. There are a lot of new peeps on the site and i am sure i am not alone in saying we wish to know how to fix signage to various substrates.

I agree Gazza, that wasn’t a very fair comment to make (signworkshop) – It was quite a long time after I started in business that I had to fit my first sign to this sort of building and I had to work it out for myself not having UKSB for help ! But that doesn’t mean that just because it seems obvious to more experienced sign makers that it doesn’t need saying.
Everyone can still learn things if we talk about the details of jobs like this and share useful information. As has been said before we all have to start somewhere…

there is many different methods for many different types of sign.
at the end of the day it is your choice which one you use.

    like rich says:

with this in mind, any discussion of methods used, obvious or not. will help anyone reading these topics.
why not elaborate and enlighten us on your own methods? i am sure it will be of use to many. 😀

I usually (letter size permitting) measure the corrugated panel and gaps first then design the sign around the spacing. I’ll post a pic in the morning to show the way I’ve always done this using locators and self drilling screws – they make jobs like this so easy!
I hope this 18 year “veteran” isin’t big al in disguise 🙄

Just my tuppence, I originally asked how Chris had done this sign because I’m a newbie to the trade but also because I’m genuinely interested in how different signmakers tackle different signs. I often go over posts from the past year or so to see how ppl have done not only this type of sign but many others. Its an invaluable resource that I wouldn’t like to be without.

Besides all that, I was hoping for a free beer at SignUK for complimenting Chris’s signwork 😉 😉 A half then?

    Cheers, Dewi

Hi Rob, it’s just that i have posted 2 replies in this thread, 1 made it ,stayed for a bit, then dissapeared?, the other didn’t even make it!. If the postings are offensive or may inflame the situation, i don’t mind them being deleted as we all make hasty comments at times but it is annoying when they disappear after being posted and no reason being given. It just makes me feel my input isn’t wanted, but if this isn’t the case and if it is a server prob, then it may need looking into.

    Cheers

its not the server mate and it is not me.
if a post is made in haste that would cause bother then i will edit it. if its something silly that even i find funny but think others may take it bad i will “move it” to a hidden forum and contact you expalining to you why.
like i have said though. i have not touched your posts.

regarding posting and it not showing. this can happen sometimes if you click repeatedly fast before the site actualy gets a chanceto posts it. it disapears and has done several times with me and others that i know of.

    Another one from Signworkshops website

    quote :

We have been supplying quailty signs for over 20 years and is a family company.

Now I’ve been speaking English for almost 38 years now and I’m pretty sure that ‘quailty’ isn’t in the dictionary.

I’m also not too sure about the grammar.

Tell you what, we’ll proof all the spellings and grammar on your signs, and you can show the UKSG how to fit theirs.

And, if you’ve got time, (just for me) send half a dozen free range up to Lambie with instructions on how to suck ’em!
