    I have a factory sign to quote for. 3500mm x 1300mm deep.

Existing sign is in Acrylic(?) with stuck on acrylic letters with a panatrim style frame.

The new sign may be the same or just plain vinyl lettering. It’s in full sun all day.

I’ve never used Dibond or acrylic for that matter and would appreciate any advice regarding the best material to use in light of the fixing ‘problems’ outlined below. Is it available in the size required as a single sheet?

I also have to fit it some 20′ off the ground, too high for my ladders. Is this likely to be a 2 man job if I hire in a scaffold tower?????

Robs probably the best man for this but I think H&S regulations say 2 men up the scaffolding and 1 man on the ground, I think. (?)

I like the idea of Dibond or similar. You can get it in 4m x 1.5m so you have enough to do the returns.

I think the first question is what is the customers brief and secondly the budget. It is pointless sourcing prices and materials if the budget does not cover their use. You say that the original sign is acylic “how long as that been in place, what as that whethered like etc and is the sign being replaced due to wear or is it a face lift for the place” this info will give you a good idea of what you are dealing with.

In some circumstances I’d agree with you Kevin but on this occasion the customer hasn’t a clue about the cost of signs and hence no budget has been set. It’s up to me to advise the options available. I’m ok with Foamex and panatrim but the size and the sun concerns me…hence my request….

I can whack a Foamboard sign up myself but never having used acrylic and dibond need to know if it’s a 2-3 man job, whether it still needs a frame etc.,

The other sign is fine, and will remain on the other (hidden) end of the building. This new one will have virtually the same content with a strapline added as they are now part of a large group.
