the two pictures i have loaded are of a sample box i made up some time ago. basically it was a box with various types of letters we could make in house on our CNC router table.
a short time ago Carrie & Steve had posted work they had done with built up letters on a corian background (imitation marble) i mentioned i had cut a letter from this on my router but didn’t know what happened to it…
well, few days ago we came across the old sample box and in it was the corian letter… so just thought ide post some pics of it.
as you can see it does have a nice effect as a marble letter, it machines brilliantly and has a great finsh…

    Hi Rob

Where do you get your Corian from. I tried to buy it direct but they would not sell and all their approved fabricators want to fabricate it for you

adrian, it was so long ago mate i dont remember.
    but…
i am sure i bought it at the exact same time when i bought signfoam & i got that from cherwell sign supplies. the bit you see routered was from the small sample they sent me and it came with a marble chart showing about 30 different marble effects and colours.
maybe best give them a bizz… i know i never shopped around for the stuff at the time… so im guessing they sent it with the signfoam delivery we got.

corian, as you probably know is also used for making expensive kitchen work tops. those suppling that will just be selling it at sheet sizes…
maybe an idea to look for it from those type of suppliers.

    Thanks Rob and LJ.

To effectively use corain you would need to buy half decent sized pieces which could then be formed on a cnc router to give end product.

As far as I am aware Corian (Dupont) restrict the sale of sheet Corian to approved fabricators who will not sell on these sheets as they want to fabricate them themselves.

Corian is a beautifull manmade material commonly used in high end kitchens and bathrooms. It can be invisibilly joined securely together (I mean invisible). It can be sanded and polished , routered and sawn, it is very durable and if you do manage to damage it you just sand it and it looks brand new again. Suitable for indoor and outdoor applications.

I would dearly like to be able to use this material and even had it specified for the revamp of the Arran Distillery visitor centre revamp ( which we are fitting this week, three days in a distillery, wish I liked Whisky).

If anyone can advise anyway we could get regular supplies of sheet sin all colours I would be most grateful

    Regards Adrian
