    Hi
    Hi
job that i completed this week, the building as just been built & the cladding can only support a hanging weight of 5 kilos per span. So a aluminum frame had to be fabricated hence the vertical uprights, this was then mounted by drilling blind through the insulated cladding. Tapping 10mm threads & fitting the frame using bolts & ferrels. The trays are composite with SMPs returns trim as weight was still an issue even with the upright supports. Text is 5mm acrylic on stand offs supplied by Fabricut, everything was fabricated in house except the lettering

    Hi
thanks for the nice comments, the actual size of each sign is just shy of 9mts x 2mtrs, fabricated & installed by myself & 17 year old trainee

Very tidy job and obviously a bit of a challenge.
Was the frame fixed to the cladding itself or what was behind it?

the frame is attached to 8” RSJs behind the insulated cladding, the cladding has a skin thickness of just 0.67mm. Each frame is attached by 12 x 10mm bolts secured through steel Ferrel’s, although the cladding was supposed to be 70mm thick it varied greatly causing gaps behind the frame which had to be filled with slips to totally enclose the sign up to the building. Everything had to be worked out from building drawings due to the canopy being enclosed both sides (thankfully all lined up). It took 2 months in the planning, same design but different materials requiring all of the weights being calculated etc, was then built & installed in 10 days by myself & apprentice in time for a visit by Ken Livingstone.

    Hi Paul
good to see you on the site, had a few nightmares with the install but glad to say that the letting was all drama free.
