• exporting woes

Posted by steve geary on December 19, 2005 at 3:45 pm

Most of the time… at least half, i have trouble exporting from flexi. Not sure if there are glitches in the program, or just things i don’t know.
Last week i exported from flexi to ai and eps to share with someone… the problem is, now i can’t delete them. Keeps telling me the file is being used by another person or program. Anyone ever experience this.
I’ve restarted several times since then and can’t see what could possibly be connected with these files. I emailed them, but, again it was several days ago, and as far as i know, not any other problems with the pc.

another thing is when i export from flexi to get a drawing into corel, i have to export as ai or eps, and sometimes the shapes have lines in them (are broken apart) when i import. or vice versa from corel to flexi.
I’ve tried saving as different versions, but never came up with a solid solution. it doesn’t happen all the time.

    any thoughts???

    Cheers!

    Hi Steve

I have an ai file which I can’t delete……I get the same message! 😥

As for the other thing, I havent an answer, but could it be that you need to group the whole image before exporting?

I think I read something about this on here a while ago.

    Hope you get it sorted

reminds me sometimes in Windows 2000, if you browse files in Explorer window and it then generates a thumb-nail, if the file is big it will “lock” the file for a period of time, anoying but eventually it unlocks it.

Must be what happened Dave. They were big and it said locked by explorer….

I have 6.6 v1.. soon time to upgrade. I do have a few known glitches, my contour doesn’t work on the outline tool, i have to use a drop shadow to get a contour. by the time i realized i could get patches, they stopped offering them for my version.

    some day….

    Steve,

I have had problems with exporting from Corel as an eps. As you say sometimes the image comes through broken and I was also finding the eps version was duplicated on top of it’s self causing it to cut twice

I got round it by converting to curves & removing the line thickness in Corel before exporting.

Also worth checking there are no effects on like lenses or blends before you export
