• Epson D88 help

Posted by Stephen Ingham on February 9, 2010 at 9:58 pm

Hi all, we use an Epson D88 printer for sublimation printing, but it only gets used occasionally and the black print head appears to have blocked or dried up.

I have spent all day putting it through the clean cycle, we even use the SSC Service Utility with no success.

Can anyone suggest a course of action or does anyone know where they may still have these printers in stock?

Any help or advice is much appreciated

    cheers

Leave it alone for a day Stephen. Too much head cleaning is counter productive. Epson recommends two or three head cleans at once. Alternative methods to clear the blockage include printing nozzle check prints (a few straight after each other) and printing few sheets of A5 /A4 in the colour which is blocked (black in your case). I’ve usually got the blockage cleared by doing a head clean followed by a few nozzle check prints followed by a colour print.

Hi Stephen. You could give I-Sub a try, they still have the D88 on their web site, but don’t know how current that is!
I’ve always found them very helpful, so if they can’t help they might know a man who can 🙂 🙂
