here is another job for this forum, i just did it last week. nothing spectacular at all, but is an engraving and i dont do much of it, but thats "through choice". nothing other than i "lack experience" and takes me too long back filling etc to be able to justify the time for prices charged.

anyway, its single line engraving, (easy one) back filled black.
we offerred various options but (good for me) they went for the easiest.
its 2mm solid brass, on dark stained hardwood backing trimmed with a decorative edge. approx 18inch x 10inch

    Hello Robert,

Just for argument sake, what would you charge for that item ?

Do you supply the timber panel with the fancy edge ? or do you buy it in ?

Is the Brass clear coated by you ?

Brass plaques have an inherent sense of prestige and perceived value.
they are not a sign in the compu cut / digi print vain and are hung as a measure of importance, prestige and position. The underlying perception is one of long term stability , honesty, professionalism and character.

They are not an item that you "Quote on " You are commissioned to produce them and your artisan talentstime, should be reflected in the pricing you present the client with.

( we believe when a corporation, Dr. Solicitor etc comes to us, they truly want to pay and have a measure of expectation for a product that reflects their social standing).

    regards

    Peter

in all honesty, i am not sure on the price quoted, ide guess about £300.
not expensive to make but time consuming. i made it from scratch…
engraved it back filled it, cleaned up and polished. (no clear coat) cut the hardwood sheet, mitre and pinned the decorative edge, sanded, stained, sanded stained and varnished twice. oh, holes were drilled first. 🙂
fitted internally on jipprock wall. four holes rawl plugs and screws for backing board then brass screws for plaque.
the sign was part of a larger job consisting of various types of signs.
