    Hello,

I don’t own one of these printers so this is all second hand. Around here most of the vendors tried to get rid of the product from inventory just a few months after they had signed with Encad. After getting rid of the product they stopped with Encad.

The printer is very slow (watched it print) and uses a very old generation of print head from Lexmark. It has been my experience that unless you are talking about the Encad 1000i, all Encad print heads are very problematic and several generations out of date whem compared with competing products.

The best feature of this printer is that it is really inexpensive. The print quality is about as good as a 1995 era inkjet printing to paper… I wouldn’t spend much money on something like this. If you really want one, try used.

Thanks a lot. I had made some inquiries since I posted that, and I come to conclusion that an entry level will be a cadet.

Know anything else that will be good on printing on normal vinyl, second hand?

For a true solvent… well over here I guess the only thing I can think of would be one of those Rolands which have been modified by a third party to print real solvent inks… essentially Cadets. I would be careful if I was buying used not to get one of those “generation 1” ecosolvent printers as they really wanted specialty vinyl in many situations.
