Had a customer in today who wanted some artwork created for a football club.
He wants the crest made ready for embroidered t-shirts. Haven’t had to order these before but was wondering how they would want the art work? Is a vector file ok?

    Hi Harry

A vector file or high res jpg is fine if it is to be sent to an embroidery digitiser, they can generally take most types of file as they have to re-draw it anyway stitch by stitch.

Or if they need it ready to go straight to the embroidery machine it needs to be in an .emb or .pes or equivalent file format, depending on the machine you are using.

    Hope this helps

Most embroiderers, would prefer an EPS Vector file, as auto digitising is becoming more popular as it improves, the standard embroidery file is DST file

    Hi Harry,

In general a jpeg or bmp file is suitable. As a digtiser and embroiderer i would not supply eps files as it leeds people to use auto trace and conversions methods which are more costly in the long run as extra stitches are added and the ‘push’ ‘pull’ effect is greater from conversions, particulary when stitching onto a light weight material. With badges due to the heavy backing the effect is lessened however on a direct stitch out comparison the results and quality are vastly noticeable. 😎
