  • Easymount sign – failure – Anyone else?

Purchased our Easymount SM1400H brand new only 2 years ago.

We have had a major part of the machine fail, this is the threaded bar on the side of the machine that moves the top roller up and down, see picture, its obviously threaded, so either a manufacturing fault or poor design.

The machine has had an easy life and well looked after, so more than a little dismayed at this. Vivid are sending an engineer out this week, but we still have to pay for the time and travel to replace the parts, they have agreed to supply the new parts free of charge.

Anyone else experience this or have we just been unlucky

surely by supplying the parts foc they are admitting liability and that their product is not fit for purpose? therefore it should all be warranty?

I can’t for the life of me understand how the threads can be stripped that bad over such a distance. Unless someone was tightening it with incredible force which in turn would destroy the vinyl you were laminating. Do you use it to apply graphics onto boards?

When winding the roller wheel it never felt right, I reported it to Vivid the fact that is had started to run out and now I see why, this was causing the pressure to be uneven across the roller.
Yes I do use it to mount to board, but only I use the laminator, so never tightened to such a degree to cause this. This says to me that thread was never square in the housing to start with.
I shall be taking it further when the engineer is here.

You do right to take it further. We have the 1600mm version and the wheel is super smooth. When the 2 rollers touch it even goes completely loose for half a turn to indicate its at the correct pressure.
