He, he , he. That was an interesting experience for sure. My 3 minute segment was a portion of an hour long program on Signage.
The reference made to NAIT was the college where I studied Commercial Signwriting in 1972-73. The program still exists today, but has changed to stay relevant to our industry. It is now called the Sign Arts Program and covers design, digital printing CNC routing and general aspects of Sign Making.
Susan Cornish is the program head and was asked to do a segment on the course for the TV show. They asked her if she could recommend someone to touch on Traditional Signmaking Techniques. I’ve known Susan for years and I’m the current Chairman of the Sign Arts Program Advisory Committee, so she approached me…. "Can you do a 3 minute segment touching on as many aspects of Traditional Signmaking as possible? … And by the way it’s filmed live to broadcast and there will be no rehearsal!" Well, I jumped all over that…. NOT! My first instinct was to run and hide and never answer my phone again.
I reflected back to occasions where Letterhead pals around North America have stood in front of the camera or microphone and I said to myself "Buck up boy and spread the word, what could go wrong on live TV 😮 "
The rest is history. I’m glad I did it, it was a terrific experience and maybe spread the word just a bit. I have been shocked to hear from many folks that saw it live or in taped re-runs.
Yes, Joe I definitely have a radio face, but whether it’s a good thing or bad, they decided I didn’t need any make up :lol1:
Rob, I did make a couple of more cameos during the show, but they aren’t on You Tube…yet. Jenny continued to paint til they came back from commercial, then she passed off to another segment I believe on Neon.
Here’s a shot of Susan doing her segment, including some vinyl application…

    Jenny doing a fine job…

    The finished "J"…

"This is going LIVE, are you nuts ????"

    😮 😮

Oh, I’ve really stuffed this up now. Either I’ve totally forgotten how to edit a post, or that feature is no longer available. I tried to fix a couple of messed up picture links and ended up re-posting. Rob, please feel free to delete the first one.
Here’s one of the pictures I messed up … 😳
