Why not just buy high gloss foam board from William Cox’s? We do our dry wipe boards for vets etc out of it with no problems

try using foam either gloss of matt and laminate with anti-graffiti film,
this is a polyester film and as long as you use water based dry wipe inks there will be no problem taking wiping the ink off,
by far a cheaper option and you can tailer the sizes to whatever you wish,

Anti graffiti film from all the usual places,

europoint,
cox plastics
hexis
spandex etc

also using just gloss foam, over a short period of time the ink causes ghosting or shadowing, (been there done that 🙁 )

I’ve just taken delivery of 3 metres of Hexis Dry Wipe with the intention of mounting it onto MDF, Foamex or similar. Had a quick try and unlike normal vinyl (which I thought might work 😳 ) it cleans off a treat!

£8.50ish a metre x metre wide.

Ramjam I have had boards from a company in the past which were a lot cheaper than Viking, can’t remember who they were though thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Martin, I had already called Hexis, I have used their dry wipe in the past and it is quite good, trouble is it only comes a metre wide and the board size is 1500 x 1200 and I don’t want a join at all, even under the grid.

Moon, I’ve not heard of doing it with foam and anti graffitti film do the boards last? Is there much difference in price between water based and solvent based pens as this might be one of the customers sticking points.

I thought all dry wipe pens were water based so you could wipe them off, and all solvent pens were permanent, not mucg use on a drywipe. Is my thinking up the spout?

You could be right Lorraine and its my thinking thats up the spout (usually is) Its just that Moon had said to use waterbased pens so I assumed the other sort if there is one would be solvent based.

High gloss foam board has always done us good, no complaints of shadowing as yet. BUT if you ever look at some of the “Pre-made” in stationery shops you find they come with pens AND a liquid based cleaner to remove hazing.

Dont scrimp on the pens Martin, the more expensive ones wipe off easier. I got a load from the market and they were just like watered down marker pens!

I’ve just tried this out on Foamalux top (gloss)
Used a dry wipe marker and left over night
Came off a treat in the morning 🙂

Won’t have to buy from mail order anymore 😀 😀
