Posted by Shawn Bentley on March 31, 2015 at 8:11 pm

hi all i just did a test print and had a drop out of whole row of blue A on test print, then did a clean on A (standard one) and it came back baffled me anyone know why this has done this as been printing all day, also had slight banding on blue (not to much but I’m fussy and notice lol) any experienced people on here know if my test print looks ok? seems ok to me but wanted second opinion, many thanks in advance regards shawn (pics attached)

Possibly a air leak as it came back after a clean is one of the cyan carts very low.
if it happens again look at the pipes going to the cyan damper see if one has air.
Dirty head cap seal could do it

also meant to say there is a lot of defections may need a set of cap tops wiper etc
    What inks ?

    heya,

your cap tops are the units that move up to seal the face of your printhead to keep it drying out. should replace every 6 months depending on your printer and usage.

oh and thats probably just a glitch in the test print. Its too tidy to be a nozzle problem. a clean, or mayb the next test print would have probably fixed it anyway. I get them frequently… it just forgot to finish the last pass or two passes of blue and quit the program.

    no prob mate.

I clean my captops every couple days.. as with the regular head cleaning. they shoudl have lovely clean "new looking" rubber around them with no dried ink deposits at all. this is what seals you head.. so the cleaner they are, the less chance of particles/goop getting on your head, and making a poor seal. very important. … i leaned the hard way back when i got my printer. at least every week clean: captops, heads, wipers and any splashes of ink around the mist pads or whatever your printer has. This will greatly lengthen the life of your print heads. 🙂

    good luck.
