Hi friends, I’ve not been around that often. Please accept my apologies.

Thought I’d show you what I’ve been up to since my last uploads

Always great to see what your up to Shane, and this is a great example of why.
What vinyl’s have you used on these buses or is it all the same brand?

As you know from past, love the renaissance one.
Is there a reason of leaving the lower end blank or is this done due to the chevrons being applied in same area?

VB Blues gets my vote this time round. looks great, has good impact and balance without clutter on the whole.

Thanks for taking the time to post your work Shane, much appreciated mate.

    Hi Friends,

John the average wrap takes 4 days with windows, and 3 days without. Usually just me and my son, and dad comes along for company and helps with keeping the workspace clean. He reckons I’m a messy sod!

The Renaisance bus was done in Queensland so it was about 45 minutes travel each way from here, but the others are all interstate. 1000klm drive down to Sydney, or 1250 klm drive to Canberra. Takes about 10 to 12 hours each way. So we stay in a motel while we are down there.

The VB Blues bus was in sydney and I got help with that from Mark Van Dam (on these boards too). Mark was my mentor when I 1st became involved in signage 20 years ago. We lost track of each other for 15 years but found each other again on UKSB’s

Next week we all go to Sydney to do a job for a Canberra client. While I’ll drive, I’ll fly Mark down for two days to help with the wrap. We are taking the VB Blues signs off and re signing it, so the first day will be striping and preparing for the new signs.

With Marks help we should knock over a full wrap including the Windows in 3 days. I’ll hang back on the fourth day to do a final ‘inspection’ before the bus goes into service. Then we’ll drive back.

My coach clients are asked to leave them for a day to settle. Its not always possible, but if they can , they do.

Mike, these clients are rare in this present economic situation, but fortunately I have a good working relationship with the coach company and I often work with very tight deadlines. The benefit of being a small company that can fit jobs in with short notice.

Rob, the renainsance was 3M IJ3552 changeable graphic material with a liquid laminate. We had a small disaster with this job unfortunately. The aquaseal laminate turned out to be faulty. I’ve had so much problem with the liquid over the last 6 months. We signed this in Queensland as it was a brand new bus, and when it was finished they drove the vehicle to Canberra.

I got a call from the coach company telling me the job was peeling at the overlaps on its trip south. I went straight to the airport and got on a plane and $600 later, arrived in Canberra to find the laminate was coming away from the material.

I saved the job by covering all overlaps with optically clear vinyl.

Aquaseal couldn’t decide what the cause was so I had to buy a vinyl laminator for my other contracts.

The VB Blues bus in 3M IJ180CV3 and 3M Laminate inline with their MCS warranty requirements.

The Black buses are wrapped in 3M180c.

The bumber on the renaisance bus was white because the designer requested it be left as the front of the bus is also white with computer cut text. Something about balance.

Thanks for the comments, appreciate it.

Aquaseal think the product may have been wrongly labeled. The latest batch rec’d this week is a much better product. Cost me a lot of money to honour my quotes that were priced with Liquid Laminate, and to use the 3M high gloss laminate. There is a big difference in price. I’m negotiating with my local aquaseal supplier for compensation. Not sure how I’ll go though. You never seem to get what you’ve lost…

Looks great Shane! Seems that you have specialized in a bit bigger vehicles… wonder what you consider a "small job" these days…?

Maybe Rob can borrow the slogan from Nokia: "UKSB – connecting people" πŸ˜€

I want to borrow the WAKE UP bus and drive it through my 16 yr old son’s bedroom some morning. Maybe then he’d get up for school.
