Thanks friends, We were knackered at the end too. Sydney had a cold snap and we were so rugged up it was difficult to work some mornings 🙂

Thats a long way to go and realise you’ve left something behind.

    Great job.

Thanks Shaun, I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t done that too. I check and double check now. The added pressure is not to stuff something up onsite. It used to worry me, but now I know that if I’ve done my homework all should be sweet. The driving is probably the hardest part. 12 hours driving each way gets pretty exhausting, then we work 10 to 12 hours each day at the job. It is easy to make a mistake so it pays to be careful and think everything thru before you tackle a job this big. We had a tight deadline on this job too. All was sweet in the end. The designer stuffed up his bit, but I managed to fix it on the fly. No one is the wiser so no one needs to know.

You’re a brave man Shane. That would’ve given me a few sleepless nights. I bet you’re glad that one’s behind you.

    Wel done 😀

Thanks mate, Got another one in a fortnight Phill, 🙂 A bit further south this time…. 2500 klm’s round trip next time. Same size bus, totally different design. Problem with these are the designers are different and are trying to out do each other. That is the truly scary bit, but I have the right to veto the design. Deadlines make it difficult tho.

Inspirational stuff! Would love to see some more photos of it. What do you mean by ‘changeable’ vinyl Shane?

    Thanks friends,

John, I’ll upload more photos when I get them off my camera.

The vinyl details are here http://tinyurl.com/3reqe98

Brilliant stuff to use, I’ll have this bus stripped in about 90 minutes when the time comes. No glue or after cleaning required either. The hardest removal will be the windows in truth…..

Thanks mate, yes 2000 klm’s Rob. 12 hours solid driving each way, with a coffee stop every 2 hours. 🙂

Thanks Martin. Actually, as long as I take the little pink pills, I’m doing fine 🙂 Appreciate your concern my friend.

Shane my friend you are a star :thumbup2:

what an awesome job mate…. Seriously I would do another couple and start thinking about doing it for a living. Give up the hairdressing and go full time… think carefully though before jumping in.

    😀 😀

My wife and kids always keeps me updated to how you are doing, btw. 😀

Thanks so much for everyones comments.

Cheryl, my son is working for me but he doesn’t drive yet. He has his Learners, but he can’t get his license until next year, so I’m looking forward to him taking the wheel on the long trips. I took my 74yo dad with us too, mainly for company and an extra set of hands. Each panel was 4m long, and half the bus is fibreglass, so my magnets were useless. Thats were dad came in 🙂

Martin, I could have done with someone as tall as you mate. My son is 6′ all, but scared of heights. Being short and dumpy, I had to keep climbing the scaffold… I’m getting too old for that I think, not to mention being a bit too top heavy!! (I enjoy the FB chats with your wife and kids too buddy).

    I’m almost famous!!!!

The Queen arrives in Canberra tomorrow to have a tour of the flower festival. Apparently the Palace requested the Queen be able to tour Canberra in this bus that I signed. Apparently they saw pictures and really want a tour using it.

The bus company owner was then told the Australian government wanted the bus ‘donated’ for the tour.

The owner said ‘No’ and the Government here refused to negotiate a reasonable fee.

So, it will sit in the workshop waiting for me to fly down on Monday to remove the signs. The Queen will have to settle for a white bus.

Shame, I would have loved to get a photo of the queen getting out of my signed bus. It would have been on my website in a heartbeat…. 🙂

Donating a bus, that seems a bit steep, in this day and age.

Unlucky though mate, would have looked great on the website.

..but down side, it would have got you a load more work…is that good 😀 or bad 🙁 as you seem totally run off your feet as it is. I’d have to get on a plane and come give you a hand.

Anyway…hows the wife’s anniversary pressie coming along?

    😀

Looks like it’s going to be a BBQ at this stage. I’m thinking cast iron, she is thinking stainless steel. If 28 years of history is any guide, I’d say it will be stainless. 😮
