Hey folks I’m looking for any drawings or clipart of signmakers/writers to use as a logo for some t-shirts that I’m having printed for myself, I would really like to use something old style like woodcuts etc.
I could use a picture of myself 😮 does anyone know of any software progs or techniqes for changing pictures to look like old style drawing etc ?
I’ve tried image searches on Google etc. but all that gave me were pictures of Gray Hodge and his wife 😀 I don’t think there’s enough room on a t-shirt for his beard 😛 so if you guys have anything kicking around I’d appreciate it. TA! 😎

I’ve not used it myself – but I believe there’s a part of Corel Trace that traces images as a woodcut?…I think, from memory, you can alter the angle of the ‘cut’, the thickness and detail too?….

    I’ll have a look and try it…

If you didn’t install the ‘trace’ module you may have to whack the CD back in and do so first…

Not sure if I quite understand what you are looking to do here Steve, but if you want a photo to look like a drawing or old style photo you can use the filters in programs such as photoshop.

Welcome to the boards Si, with the experience you must have I’m sure you will be able to answer lots of questions people post and help out with all sorts of problems. Not that I’m trying to put you on the spot, its good to have you onboard and I look forward to reading your posts in the future.

Good memory there Mr. Lambie! 😆

Yep, right there in the step by step forum, PhotoShop “pencil” sketch how to. The quick “read” of thread is that a photo was turned into a “pencil sketch” look. Now this is completely a raster based process, so not applicable if vectors are desired.

Si already mentioned Streamline by Adobe and Mike pitched in Corel’s Trace utility, and folks with SignLab might use AccuScan and the like. I’d like to also mention SilverFast AI by LaserSoft Imaging as a possibility. I have limited experience with the product so far, but it is very rich with features. Check it out; SilverFast AI

As for the step by step mentioned, now with PS 7.x in use, I’d probably approach the project a bit differently. In time there may be a follow up post on doing the same thing, but using some of the additional tools that PS 7.x offers.
