can anyone tell me how to draw shapes of this type in corel (x4 i use) but other verions will be the same

drawing the 1st shape isnt the problem, (well can be)
its replicating the others so they fit together, as if you duplicate it it wont be like in the picture, im sure its easy enough but just cant figure it out.

also just knowing how to draw the original shape would be good too, I need to know how to curve rectangles if you know how I mean, like bend the end of a rectangle into a u bend type shape sorry for being vague the pic should illustrate what I mean.

I have some great t shirt designs in my head that need to come out.

    Hi Steve

In Corel you can use the contour command to replicate lines/strokes with distances and so forth.

Making the first object would I guess be easiest with the Bezier tool functions, dragging the points around in elastic mode and then using the contour system to move forwards to multiples.

Then you can easily break the grouped objects apart and delete ones you dont want, colour them etc.

One thing I found is that the ‘ungrouping’ of contoured objects is hidden in the layers palette sometimes, so worth checking that if you are tearing your hair out trying to find an ungroup command for it!

    Hope this helps

Just read your post again, you definitely need to use the Bezier tools to create the paths rather than try to make something from the built in boxes and circles.

    Yup,

Draw the first line, but extend the lines out further and close the path. Next use the contour function to add the remaining lines. I would create the middle line, then use the contour inside and outside functions.

This will have to be drawn flat, then use perspective to allow the lines to taper………

    Hope this helps ya

    Hi Steve,

    Check this site out… http://www.advancedartist.com/
They supply basic and advanced tutorials on Corel, really excellent!
you can order the DVD discs and they’ll be delivered in a couple of days… brilliant stuff with videos etc. It will show you step by step to recreate everything in corel from vectors to bit maps. I’ve had the X3 copy and recently ordered the X4 for my staff.

    Cheers,

    Timmy

Ah ok, elastic mode, never heard of it, lol

i have the manual and its in the box just like the photoshop one but been using that for 14 years so didnt need that,
the one thing that does annoy me on contoured objects is that sometime you cannot break the group, but learned that if you move it slightly, (or mnove it and move back if you dont want it moved) it will break.

Ill try that site and what you have said above and let you know

    cheers for the tips
    Steve
