Hi George,
we use double sided tape all the time but not really for channel to ACM. The people to talk to are Indasol. They are very good and technically helpful and will be able to advise the best product (and more importantly explain how to apply correctly) for what you want…

Make sure you are buying the correct VHB for the surfaces your adhering George, there are variations.
i have been using VHB since it came out many moons ago now and as much as i have tried alternatives i dont revert to the 3M branded one. the past year or two i havent been using it just as much but dependant where the sign is being put and if it is composite. i.e. high wind and exposed areas. i will use a combination of tape and rivets. i.e. 100mm of tape per rivet as it spreads the load where the fixing is. this is because i have seen composite sheets being ripped off the channel rail leaving the rails and rivets in place.
if using only the tape on a large sign, make sure you follow application method by the book and heat the area once applied to promote adhesion. allow a bonding period too.

Thanks for the advice Rob I am always wary about tape i have had the full spec application pdfs etc from Indasol including using a primer on the composite
