Ive got to produce some double sided printed banners for a client that will have a different image on each side. Iam using a Metamark banner material that does not have a block out layer so the images are gonna clash when put up.

My idea is to print 2 banners and then stick them together.

Whats the best way to bond the banners together?
I mean not just the edges but the whole thing, otherwise they will fill with air etc.

Or am i approaching this the wrong way?

Any help will be well recieved thanks

    Mark

I would definately try to find a different banner material, one that is double-sided.
I once did the back-to-back banners, not stuck together, but over a state highway, at least 4’x28′. I used metal clips like rapellers use to kinda bolt the two together. There was no air infiltration problem, but you could STILL see through the darn things!
I deal with US Banner Corp outta South Carolina, but I dunno if you’d wanna go that route.

Just a thought…maybe you could roll a coat of black acrylic paint over the back of one banner, then lay the other one on top.
This should stick them together AND work as a blockout.
Test first!!! Let us know if you do it and if it works.

    Thanks all for the input.

Rob, I phoned up Lows of Dundee, and had a look at their web site.

    Found this product which suits

    http://www.lowsofdundee.co.uk/public/Product_Detail.aspx?productID=70&CategoryID=18

Its printable both sides and has a block out in the middle…..perfect.

Just ordered a roll, not a bad price either for 25 m at 1370mm wide.

Now all Ive got to worry about is printing them so that they match up both sides!!
Ive had an idea for that as well. Print one side and put a small pin prick in the top left corner of the print. Turn it over and set the base point for the other print on the pin prick and print……I think that would work, may have to print with a bit of bleed tho

Thanks again all, Ill let you no the results

I was going to say to paint the back of one or both. Should work. But glad to see you got it sorted 😀
