  • Does vinyl master pro have compatibility issues with vista?

Posted by Liam Pattison on June 19, 2009 at 6:53 pm

    Hi
I have Vinyl Master Pro version 2.95 and i am trying to run it with vista 32bit.
Does anybody else have this setup and if so, have you come across any problems?

Mine seems to have trouble importing files (occasionally) and it does all kinds of weird things when trying to cut.

I have a graphtec ce5000 120 but i’ve tried it with other cutters and it always has problems.

Does anybody have this software running properly on vista?

    thanks

    Liam

You probably know this already – but in case you don’t, have you tried running it in compatibility mode for an older version of windows?

Do this by right clicking on the VMPs start up icon – go to properties, then set it to run in compatibility mode for windows XP or 98. This may help.

I recently installed my RIP software (Wasatch) on a Vista machine and discovered it runs much more successfully when I set the compatibility mode to windows XP

Thanks Phill, i will give that a try (hadn’t heard of that). I had been advised to right click and run as administrator, which did solve some of the problems but not all of them.

    Vista is fine…

Just make sure you have downloaded all the updates from VMP’s website.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,

just thought i’d also add that i got this email from ifuture the producers of the software-

”As for the fonts, some versions of Vista do block and interfere with previewing fonts. To use a font, go into control panel in windows, and then go into the Fonts folder, and from the top menu, you select "install new font" and this will allow you to install the required fonts onto your system”.

This was referring to the font manager in vinyl master pro. As far as i can see it would be nearly impossible to install every font first in order to see what they looked like and then decide weather you wanted to use them or not.

    There are 5000.
