Anyone use Oracal for general printing ? I was going to give this a try until I was told that the recomended over laminate cost £50 more per roll than the Vinyl (1360).
With Metemark the vinyl and laminate are the same price

Oracal is fine and the matched lam should cost about the same as the base, did you get the price from europoint?

This post is duplicated i just replied in the other one

i use it can’t remember the code numbers, are you a UKSB member. Even though the single price item varys, you need to work out what the combined cost is because if the vinyl is cheap enough it could compensate for the extra cost of the laminate (if that makes sense). The laminate does have a nice gloss and I have had other signmakers that we do trade work for comment on the quality of it. I’ve used others of similar spec & price who’s gloss didn’t come close to the oracle. The lam i use is 210g can’t remember the vinyl but might be 3164 not at the office at the moment so can’t check.

    Hope this helps

    Yeah, we do.

3551GRA for printing and 3551G for laminate.

    Works well.

    Yeah, we do.

3551GRA for printing and 3551G for laminate.

    Works well.

I do too, but I use 3551gra and 215 overlaminate. The difference with 215 over 3551G that john suggests is that the 215 has UV inhibitors to prevent fading, but the clear 3551g doesn’t.

Great product though, prints very well.

I know that Mr. Lambie will have something to say about the RapidAir, but soon after we started printing, we had complaints from a very important client who said that he couldn’t apply the stuff we were using then without getting bubbles. the GRA fixed that overnight.

Sure, Rob is right in that professional fitters shouldn’t need it, but so much of our stuff is sent out for others to apply. As a bonus, and in desperation, if I have to, I can even make a reasonable job of applying it myself. 😀

And, if you beat Europoint about the ears, you can get a deal on the GRA, so that it is not too much more expensive than the ordinary G.

    Thanks….
I was checking the 3651 5 Year material and it says use 210g or 215g
    Both cost £50 More

the 220hg with uv is a similar price to the 3651, in my price list,
perhaps you should check with your supplier or check an alternative source?

Sorry i don’t have the figures handy on this, however… the 210g is the option you should probably be using with the 3651 this is certainly not the same price as the 215g nor is it is it anywhere close to £50 more than the 3651.
In fact, i doubt the 215g is even close to the £50 more than the 3651…
Like has been said, ide double check with the "Europoint" rep on the prices given.

John, based on your comment on the rapid-air vinyls. I would agree with you mate… if the jobs you were producing were being handed to "the customer" and they had to fit. then yes, if he’s a big customer and this will keep him happy then by all means, do what it takes.
i just don’t feel that buying it in to make life easier for the staff is the route to take. i don’t say that for any other reason than, not only do you have an on-going extra expense… when it comes the time when they have to use other brands of vinyl that do not come with the air release system, they will find it far more difficult.
i have several rolls of different 3M vinyl in my work waiting on me product testing it… one being the air release system. (new one though) i have had a play with it and "i can honestly see the attraction" in using this type of vinyl but mainly for the reasons above, and certainly not for wrapping. i don’t go down this route…

    I pay about $400 for a 1370mm roll of 3165 and about $600 for a 1400mm roll of 215G overlaminate film.

3551GRA is $585 a 50m roll here less discounts, only $14 dearer a roll than the old 3551G. Not worth worrying about, the GRA is well worth 28 cents a metre 😉
