  • does anyone use Metamark Series 7?

Posted by JonnyAnnett on September 20, 2007 at 7:16 pm

Anyone used this stuff before? What do you think of it?

I’m using Avery at the minute but have a good supplier for the Metamark Series stuff. I’m using the 5-7 year Avery as the normal day to day vinyl but employ other versions were needed obviously.

I just want to see what you guys/girls think of the Metamark Vinyl, as a whole?

    Cheers
    Jonny

Ive used some metamark vinyl before, was very good.
I also have one of their purple squeegees, bought it with our first bit of kit 2 years ago and the edge on it is as sharp as the day I got it, hardest squeegee I ever used, Good for stubborn creases or bubbles.
But yes the vinyl was good too, but as with all vinyl there are grades of varying quality.

I am not keen on their calender range of day to day vinyl… Its a good enough vinyl but vinyls on par with it from Mactac, Oracal, Avery, 3M etc etc leave it behind.
their digital MD5 vinyl is very good though an i use it from time to time, best supplier i have found for this on service and price is Andy Beverage of Scotmark… 01501-825657
I havent tried the 7 series… Is this not their new wrap series?

I use Metamark vinyl and I have no issues with it. It weeds better than most and it fits well. The 7 series Rob is their equivalent to the Oracal 751 range

I agree, Metamark and I have no issues either. Use 7 series mainly.

    7 Series is 5 to 8 year.

    5 year for metallic
    7 year for colour
8 year for white and black.

so do they now have a wrap vinyl or are they still using their digital MD5?
I know this was the case at the beginning of this year but i thought they had launched their own wrap at signuk 2007?

    😕 ok im obviously wrong here… "i think" :lol1:
I thought their 7 series was MD7, I take it, it is not? 😕

The 7 series is the 7year "normal", coloured vinyl and like marcells said pretty much the same as 751, where as the MD7 is their digital print wrap vinyl. confusing stuff with all these 7’s around.

    :lol1: ok, got you now, thanks… 😉
Oracal 751c is a cast though, that’s why i was asking was the 7 series a cast because Marcella mentioned it was similar to 751. and then it got me thinking maybe this is why its now being pushed as a wrap…
    never mind, i understand now. 😀 :lol1:

Didnt realise 751 was a cast thought it was a polymeric calendered. but im not too clever.

Bit off topic Rob but whats th 551 just got the oracal colour charts off europoint and really dont see where it fits in.

I use the 751c for everything basically so im not 100% on the other ranges, but from memory, 651 is the 4-5 year calender, the 551 is the 5-7 year calender that was introduced to replace the 751 when it moved onto being a cast.

Dave, its a bit confusing and I don’t know why oracal didn’t just give the cast a new number but it’s as Robert says.
651 hasn’t changed same as it always was.
551 is the old 751 range, better quality and longer lasting than the 651.
751c now a cast vinyl, don’t know why they had to call it 751 because its obviously a different vinyl being cast.

So in actual fact the metamark 7 series is equivalent to the oracal 551 series not the 751c.

I`m gonna confuse things even more now. I had the rep in from Europoint and he told me that in the near future they are going to be renumbering there vinyls. 🙄 😕

Hell its gonna be fun lol

    Cheers

Priced this vinyl (Metamark 7 series) earlier today. A lot more expensive than any other vinyl I’ve used or priced. Doesn’t seem to justify the extra money tho.

I’ve had no problems with the Avery but thought I’d try the Metamark stuff as Trimwel (N.Ireland Importers) do pretty good deals on application tape and etch vinyl.

Think I’ll stay with the Avery seems to be as good if not better than the sample of Metamark I have tried.
