  • does anyone supply skin tone vinyl?

Posted by Iain Gordon on July 21, 2005 at 6:54 pm

    Hi All,

Does anyone know a supplier/brand of vinyl that has flesh or skin tones in their range.

Characters done in either pink or ivory just dont seem to look right

    Cheers
    Iain

    Iain,
skin tones are very complex, not one colour, its not Black White Red or Yellow. so the answer is no you cannot get a vinyl in skin colour, in fact even if you print it it is one of the hardest things to get right

hi iain, not sure if you have oracal 851 swatches mate, but numbers 804 818 816 are all sorta colours i would use for skin tones.
like has been said, you will never get a great match, but these are very good alternatives.

if you dont have swatches, check members section for oracal 851 and click on the swatch card and they will increase in size to give you an idea what i mean. this range is located near the bottom of the list of europoint products.

    Rob,

Yes ive got them but i was looking for something between 816 and 341.

On another note i thought that the 851 was becoming obsolete as 751 is now being shipped as cast.. I may have the wrong end of the stick though

    Cheers

i think 851 is mate, your right, but i think they have to exhuast stock before that happens so ide not hold my breath on it for a bit. 😀
the new swatch range for 751 will have increased range for sure, not sure when it will be readily available though.
few years ago i used some apa vinyl, thought it was a good match for babies. the vans still running around, looks good as new but the babies look sun burned :lol1: always go for subtle i say these days….

lynn, sorry… guess thats one of the joys of signmaking down south :lol1:

Iain, Mactac’s new 9800 pro range (5-8yr) has some very pale pastel colours which might be some help 😉
