seams i can not get more than 2 years out of a black head, as all the others are the originals any thoughts ?

i have today been soaking the head and cleaned it to a inch of its life. its only 6 deflects but dam annoying on 24pt text and below

I have the Grenadier and I was getting very bad deflection from the black head, I was thinking I will have to replace it, then when I needed another bottle of cleaning flush I opted for a one different than the B & P one.
Following regular soaking and cleaning, the head is getting better.

My black has 6 nozzles deflecting slightly and the magenta has 3 as well Chris. I am thinking of buying a overhaul kit from America as they do one for the bastardised versacamm Uniform printers as well as for the standard rolands. I have seen the heads cheaper in Europe but it doesn’t state suitable for Uniform. With the overhaul kit you get new heads, ink lines, dampers, pump and capping stations if I remember right

    Steve,
I got it from Granthams, cost £35 per litre, maybe because of the price I am using it a bit more liberally.

    Chris,

the black on our SP300 also deflects a bit ( OK, rather a lot!!)

The way I work around this is to mix "black" as 100% CMY, 0% black. (in corel) I then RIP as per usual (RGB) and the black comes out beautiful without any "overspray" The black thus mixed is also very "solid" when printed on white vinyl. Printed on clear and placed against a window it looks green, though.

Try it. And thank me later…..
