Parker away Nic 😀
Actually, it will depend on the size and shape of the printed area, once I choose the memory stick. I would ideally like to print and stick vinyl on them if poss. I could also dye sub them if I get the right memory stick substrate. I don’t have the ability to screen print 😥 -
http://www.ebuyer.com is my usual source for all things PC related…
…just checked – smallest is a 1Gb now. £5 a pop – but they do have 1000 in stock.
Might manage to get a better deal given the quantity.
Dave
found these guys http://usbcompany.co.uk
might be worth a look.

If you dye sub a memory stick your client will be giving them away alright, as useless pieces of flattened melted plastic that dont work.
Not only will they melt, they will probably crush first.
The heat needed to transfer the ink will probably also melt the solder on the chips at the very least, (solder melts at 190 degrees, Dye sublimation takes place at 190 degrees.)
Cast acrylic melts in a press, that is a lot harder than a usb memory stick trust me.On another note, invariably on 500 some will fail, Ebuyer has a shocking returns procedure, you could be letting yourself in for a whole world of grief, use someone reputable like micro direct, SVP or misco.
All of which have humans on the end of the phone and deal with the trade. Before anyone says how wonderful ebuyer is, we buy thousands of pounds of hardware per year and have used ebuyer in emergencies previously, they have consistently been useless, I had to return 3 monitors to get a working one a while back, and it took 2 months from when I paid till when I had a working TFT, I still have it admittedly, and this level of service goes back several years.
Type into google "ebuyer complaints" and see for yourself. -
PC World Business (www.pcwb.com) have over 4000 1GB Freecom ones in stock @ £4.17 each (+VAT).

I would of thought pad printing would of been best I could be wrong though.
Get a copy of a promo sourcing directory at http://www.bigblackbook.co.uk you can probably find somewhere to do the whole job and just markup.
Tim.

There is also the option of doming them,
that would work out pretty cheap. -
on topic how about a dome sticker.

Dabs.com have Kingstone 512 USB drives for £3.98 inc vat, doesn’t say how many they have though.
And 7dayshop.co.uk have a selection that start around £4.00 + vat, again no indication of how many in stock.
I’d think for 500 you could go straight to a wholesale supplier or manufacturer.
They may even throw in the printing for free :lol1:Steve

if you put another two or three zeros after that they might!
On the subject of Ebuyer returns – sure, you’ll have to return stuff as with any mass purchase.
But go into any major retailer of electrical & electronic goods & you’ll see people queued trying to return everything from lightbulbs to plasma screen TVs being faulty on delivery.I’ve not had any hassle when doing returns other than the time for it to be posted in & back out…they have had ‘dispatched’ marked on an order for months on end (it was out of stock).
I’d be sorely tempted to just buy ’em in & mark it up from a ‘corporate gift’ company – sod doing hundreds of them yourself!

Received a catalogue in the post this morning from http://www.hotline.co.uk
Memory sticks are on page 38. Sizes from 64Mb to 2Gb. Price on application, but they do threaten to beat anybody else.

Ebuyer however will take weeks if not months.
Im only speaking from experience of a Retail computer shop who has used them in the past, and has had nothing but problems. We obviously dont use them now and they may have improved customer service, but all Im saying is they used to be shocking and there are far better and more reliable firms out there who care about their customers.
Use them if you like, but type ebuyer complaints into google and you’ll see what I mean. -
Interesting comments about ebuyer.
I bought a digital camera from them at the beginning of December, It arrived 2 days after the order and proved to be the wrong one – my fault not theirs.
I rang the customer services number, got an RMA number, re-ordered at the same time, and collections number, the courier picked it up the following day. The replacement arrived four days after that. I can’t fault that service, I suppose Christmas may have had something to do with it.
I rang today to enquire about the refund to my credit card account and it has already been done.Steve

Like I say, they may have improved.
God knows they had to else they would have been finished, they are very cheap and stock good gear Im just terrified of ever using them as my record on the phone to them on hold was 1 hour and 46 minutes for a single call, in all to get something replaced I spent 5 hours, I had to also send a case back at my expense that they got wrong else they wouldnt send another.
Lets hope they have redeemed themselves then, If so I will give them another chance someday.
