does anyone know what spoolsv.exe is?
Hi all,
My ongoing laptop problems: 😮 does anybody know what spoolsv.exe is?
HAd a look at the comps performance and this is using 126,000k at times……completely paralzying my system. When I hit ‘end process’ it frees things up with no obvious problems or shutdowns.
Any help greatly appreciated. -

in a nutshell, the bit that goes between the design program on your funky printer, you get a list of what is printing when you go Start > Printers and Faxes. Is one of the printers listed busy with documents?
If failed, reinstall that funky printer you have

Not sure yet if I have solved the problem but I followed the advice on that link Nik and I found a spoolsv.exe program buried on the hard drive and deleted it. no problems so far this morning. CPU running at 10-12%

Harry – you tried printing ANYTHING yet.
printsv.exe is your print spooler utility…dunno what Windows will make of it being deleted… 😕

sorry Dave, should have said, on that link Nik gave it reckons its a trojan or worm pretending to be your spooler. I deleted a file that wasnt in the System 32 folder, the proper spoolsv is still there. The printer is working fine.

I had exactly that same problem a few months ago. Again I deleted it and there’s been no problems. 😀

Its amazing how this has solved the problems I have been having with my laptop……….seems its a very common problem. My system is has 4 Corel documents open, is streaming a radio feed and is running like a dream, previously, it would have frozen for 5 minutes before I could proceed. Gonna Google anything else that looks suspicious on the process list, never would have thought of that!…..Brilliant!…….will you marry me Nik??? (I have a small farm of land, a red tractor and a suit I haven’t had a go of yet!) 😀 😀 😀

Phil, maybe its me being dumb but where exactly does it say I have sheep or cows????? Anyway I’m spoken for! I love mini coopers especially if the girl has good legs!!!
Don’t mind George, Dave, he gets a bit ratty until 3 or 4 o’clock on a Friday!! 😀 😀
