Hi, after trying each of the suggestions from the site members who helped me with my reg mark question and speaking to Graphtec again, I am still not much further. I have come to the conclusion that I need training, and if possible in Ireland. If it’s not available in Ireland though, it will have to be the UK. Does anybody know of anybody who can give training on all aspects of the cutter, but in particular using the optical eye with reg marks? Thanks.

    Hi Catherine,
I bought my Graphtec in Belfast….and although I didnt avail of it…..they offered training with it, I can get you their number if you want to try them. I think they will send a technician to you if you need help.

Thanks Harry, I’ll give them a call and see what they say. I tried sending you a pm back, but for some reason it said the administrator wouldn’t let me. I bought my cutter from a company in the UK. They don’t know anything about them, they just re-sell them. It would be great if we could get training within Ireland, we’re in Dublin, but even as far as Belfast is better than the hassle of flights etc. Thanks for your help. I’ll let you know what they say.

Sorry to hear you are still having problems.

    What exactly is happening?
    You send the job.
Does it start looking for RegMarks?
Does it find the first but not the the others?
It sails over regmarks without seeing them?
    Any error message?
Is the cutter set to look for the same type of reg marks as you printed?

I only ever had 3 problems.
Sometimes the media is the wrong type, too reflective or not enough and it just scims over the mark without seeing it.
Any crease of fold in the media gets read as a regmark.
I set a bad initial start point when getting it to look for marks.

If you picture the regmark as a square and not an "L" , i position the tip of the KNIFE in the middle of the square, actually i move it a bit closer to where the lines meet , But NOT over where the lines meet.

The laser finder has to start looking at a certain spot for the first mark and then it does a bit of a search pattern to try to find it.
I found that when i put the knife tip EXACTLY where the lines meet, the laser finder searches too far on the wrong side of the regmark and never finds it. Thats why i put the knide 1/4 inch in and up from where the lines meet.

This seems to work fine for my ce5000 FC5100 and FC7000.
Tyring to get my Cratf Robo up and going now.

If you are getting some training, get them to show you the 3 main methods of using the regmarks.

1: Basic 3 or 4 regmarks in the corner of the drawing, good for small jobs.
2: The new SEGMENTED regmarks good for long jobs. Its basicly 4 marks in the corners plus intermediate regmarks placed say every 10 inches along the length.
3: The ARRAY with regmarks. This is good for cutting arrays of Decals.
eg you print a 10 by 20 array of identical 2 inch decals each with thier own set of regmarks , You only needs to send 1 set of cut data.
The software tell the cutter, here is 1 set of cut data. The software tells the cutter to Array cut it 10 by 20 times, The software tells the cutter how far apart the regmarks are. The cutter will find each individual set of regmarks and cut each individual decal.

Dont know if Robomaster supports all three.

    Anyway, goodluck.
