Ok im just about to sling my pc out of the window, Adobe make it easier than anything you have ever used, Corel make it so annoying to do a simple task it drives you nuts!

Anyone know how to get vertical text in Corel draw X3, I use this program all the time but never had any need for vertical text so never bothered to find out, the help file is useless it gives an instruction to follow that doesn’t exist as far as I can see.
    help please anyone.

type text then draw a vertical line then fit to text to path, you need to play with the settings a bit to get the text the right way round then adjust the letter spacing…. 😕

Ha ha that’s what I have been doing, letter enter repeat,
    nice one
Man why do they make it so hard to do a simple task, I love the program but the text tools need serious improvements.
I might just do it in Illustrator and import it I think.
The fir text to path thing makes it go vertical but the wrong way letters are next to each other not above/below each other, or is there another way like when you fit to a path under a circle and all that having to drag it about and re kern it etc?

Orientation was in Coreldraw right up to version 12 but seems to have been missed out of X3 – oops! Strange, as you say, it appears in the help which probably hasn’t changed since V12.

The magic button was actually very easy to find, in fact there were several magic buttons. they went like this.
Minimize Corel X3, maximise Illustrator, Type "SOUTH" with the vertical type tool,
Then press Export, then open in Corel draw.
I cant for the life of me see why they make a 1 minute job into a 2 hour stress fest.
Oh well I found the "easy way" now I suppose

1: Open The Corel X3 Programme
2: Click On Tools on the Toolbar a the top
    3: Click On Customisation
4: Down Th LH Side Click Commands
5: Go the the Drop Down Menu at the top and look for text
6: Select this so it shows bold
7: Scroll down the List until you see the word Vertical Text
8: Click and drag this to the command bar and then it should work
9: PS I did say Should Work as I do Find X3 Quite Unstable sometimes
    Hope this Helps

I don’t think I’ve ever had any stability issues with X3. It needs a decent amount of memory, that’s for sure, but it has always run fine for me.

I’m going to really regret having said that……. 🙄

SP2 of Corel is working well for us and stability.

So are we talking about verticle text rotated 90 degree
    o
    r

    t
    e
    x
    t

    l
    i
    k
    e

    t
    h
    i
    s
    ?

I would have thought that 90degree text was easy… type it in and rotate? doesn’t that work?

No Dave I’m talking about vertical text.
IE like you typed, letters below one another.
Illustrator makes it easy so I just do it in that and import into corel now
