Can anyone advise if I can ( and if so how ) upgrade my old faithfull camm1 with OPAS to enable me to cut using reg marks etc.

Techsoftuk.co.uk say its possible but not sure if my machine is too old and they wont supply according to thier site as you have to be an educational member ?

    Any advice appreciated

Hi Bob, I see it is 225pounds plus postage plus VAT for you to fit the Opus from Techsoft, and I am sure you must know a teacher who could order it for you. I could look into it if you want, but I guess the invoice would be in the schools name, so you wouldn’t be able to claim the expense.

Don’t have any other help, sorry.

    Hey there…

You might want to try http://www.xpres.co.uk . Someone recommended them to me and although I’ve not ordered from them at all, I did give them a call regarding the camm 1 and the guy on the phone seemed very knowledgeable and was very friendly.

I’ve just bought a camm 1 (GX-24) and I’ve got to say that the OPUS works FANTASTICALLY…

I’m very new to this business and it only took me a couple of hours to get to grips with it. Using Adobe Illustrator (the corel draw plugin doesn’t seem to support ‘print n cut’.) I am able to cut around images printed from my Epson 1280 with a kind of precision I never thought possible… it’s just so damn accurate!

One thing I did find, is that the reg marks quite drastically decrease the cutting area (although I’m only using A4, so any decrease is quite dramatic) but found that taping a sheet of paper to the vinyl allowed me to move the reg marks higher and use a lot more of the space.
