  • Does anyone have an idea on how to do this?

Posted by Lorraine Clinch on July 17, 2007 at 1:14 pm

Who wants the enclosed text & tree image in vinyl? Text obviously is not a problem, but the tree is either 106mm x 98mm, or 73mm x 67mm. I have cut it out at both these sizes, the smaller is almost impossible to weed, the larger one is easier but still has some tiny cuts which I cannot get.

Does anyone have an idea on how to do this? Screen-printing is the obvious answer, but he only wants 4, so isn’t economical.

What would you do, say yes, we can do it (and how?) or no?

    Lorraine,

If the only reason you couldn’t screen print was down to cost….. I would just get it digitally printed.

If you don’t print yourself getting somebody to do such a small job might be a problem….but there are a lot of friendly help full people about
    😀

Digi is the way to go, I agree, but I was concerned because the image will be white, and it’s going on to a blackboard. Could it still be printed? (Sorry, should have said this in the 1st place 🙄 )

Isn’t the JV3 the only printer that prints white?
But in any case, will it stick to a blackboard? 😕

I would have thought that would look all right….obviously all the infill bits between the branches would have to be black to blend in with the background

Marcella, I suppose if you heated it on it would stay? The boards will be unused, so not chalky.

Have you got an Edge Dave?

Get it printed on clear with an Edge Lorraine.

    Nick.

In that case – why not digi print black onto white???????? I mean print the background of the tree leaving what you want in white?

The black in all probability wouldn’t be the same as the board

no it wouldn’t but if it’s being printed onto a square of clear vinyl then you’ll also see the clear too?????

You could cut it out and stick it to the board before weeding, then weed it off the blackboard. I find this works best with small stuff.

Colour the tiny white bits on the image black. Get it digitally printed on white, then just contour the basic tree shape. Maybe the small black bits will be too small to notice much a slightly different shade? 😕

    lorraine,
nip down to pc world, buy some self adhesive label paper, print it on your dektop inkjet printer,(reversed out black) and stick it to the blackboard, no need for anything elaborate, If its for outdoor just stick a bit of clear vinyl on top, or a coat of clear mat varnish

    Can’t print onto black Lorraine.

I’d do as Brian suggested, but laminate in a matt finish, or print onto white satin… avery 2010/2012?

Why don`t you print the tree on white vinyl including all the black detail inside the tree then just use a greyish contour around the tree and contour cut around the grey.

I find jobs like are such a ball ache. If you were to charge for the time spent you would cause so many heart attacks.

I have to agree with Lynn. If the customer wants this and insists on it then I`d say sorry no can do.

    Cheers
