Does anyone have a supplier for a really good quality chrome vinyl?

I’ve been using some chrome I bought from Europoint, but I’ve just had a job returned as its started to look nightmarish in less than a week 😮 I know chrome doesn’t have the longest of lives once applied to a vehicle, but a week! 😕

The other thing is, the stuff I already have is a very thin film-like material. Is this standard for chrome vinyl, or could I get something with a little more body to it?

    Cheers, Dewi

Nice to have you back (but to be honest I hadnt noticed that you had gone)

We used to use chrome vinyl from Spandex at about £4 per metre at 610mm but it was very thin hard to weed and hard to fit.

We now buy from a traveling van salesman called Darren McGuire I can get his details for you if you want to deal direct. We buy it from him in metre wide rolls cut 610 plus 390mm and cost about £7 as square metrre. I could sell you some of this at very low mark up if you wanted or you can contact Darren direct. This stuff is much thicker longer lasting and easy to weed.

    Regards Adrian

good to see your alive and kicking mate 😉 :lol1:

to be honest every foil film on the market is 6 months, 1 year and some 2 years. most is recomended for promotions etc.. but i find if you get a decent one and apply ontop of vinyl it helps the vinyl bite better and stops it curling badck etc…

jon from spandex in canada told me that spandex have a 5 year foil costs about £50 a metre. oracal have just launched a NEW 5 Year foil like the spandex one.. i heard it costs about £10 or so a metre (dont quote me on that though )
having said that… i dont know if europoint are stocking it… 😕 maybe worth giving them a call?… remember spell it out for the person on the phone it is NOT the cheap one your after its a brand NEW version of the film.
    😉

3m 7755-420 mirror chrome. Expensive but no alternative if you are looking for very long life. All the others are very iffy.

Thank you for the suggestions guys 😀 Adrian, I’ll PM you tomorrow, I’d be very interested in buying a sample of that from you.

I did some trials once on a chrome material. It was thick, almost like a foam tape. I think the product was American, could have been Kpmf’s parent co. Anyway, it was supposed to have a 5-10 year life. Anyone ever heard of that? (From the mass of complete gibberish that I have given!)

i used some of te aslan stuff a few weeks ago.. first time.. cut very well for a foil. application was on a rough sorta surface & was only for 3 nights so performance, i cant really comment on. one thing that stuck in mind was £12 a metre.. (we had priced our outgoing on it £7 @ 80 metres :o)
i guess if its a 5-7 year then its my fault for not checking first. but have never heard of a foil having that kinda life other than spandex then recently oracal.

    we live and learn eh?

Metamark do a Chrome, they call it exterior Silver Polish. Its an exterior grade available in gold or silver, a polyester film that they state offers a true 5 year outdoor durability for vehicle and other exterior signage…….Here’s the crunch £17.36 plm, 610 width unsprocketed.

This must be new (just recieved new price list yesterday) as i have not seen this listed before, used the 6 month exterior grade with no problems (only short term signs) @ £12 plm, Tried it on me old Dodge RV once, looked great to start with, but went clear after about a year……. This was also made by Aslan.
