  • does anyone have a non dongle cutting program?

Posted by Jennifer Metituk on July 6, 2005 at 4:25 am

Since we upgraded to XP our Roland Cutter has gremlins. It won’t duplicate in the X direction. It will stack vertically (Y) but if there are more than one column’s worth it will cut over itself.

Also it doesn’t zero its base point after cutting even though that option is set in Signlab. Its really frustrating….

Our tech support says its a Signlab problem. Any ideas

BTW Vers 5.0 Signlab, Corel 11, PNC 1210 (oldie but a goodie)

Anyone have a non dongle cutting program? Don’t need the design as we do it in Corel and the dongle is a pain the patootie.

There were/are issues with Signlab V5 and XP and was one of the reasons I upgraded, must say that for me Signlab V7 is miles better than V5 – running multiple instances alone made it worth while.

We have a PC60 that more often than not will not zero it’s base point.

We use Scanvec Inspire to cut vinyl and it’s great, but sometimes the Roland throws its toys out of the pram.

We turn the sucker off for about 10 secs and then on again. Bingo. New improved base point.

As for your other problems, sorry don’t have a clue.

Is your cutter itself set to ROTATE 90.
Also make sure in the driver in signlab that origin is Lower Left
and End Point is Next Dwg.

Also, go to Cadlinks Website and download the latest Cutter Driver that you are using. The latest drivers are available for download.
For 1 or 2l of Roland cutters there where doubts about the exact syntax to make a cutter set a specified point as the new origin.

Or , if you know how to edit your Drivers INI with NotePad, look in the [Generic ] section and make sure the Tile= line and EndJob= line read as follows. Make sure there is an “!” in front of PG0

    [Generic]
    Tile=!PG0
    EndJob=

    Thanks Frank for the feedback.

    Questions.

Where is rotate 90? I looked in all the submenus.

Also I searched for drivers.ini no luck. there was a generic file in the signlab folder. It didn’t contain a string like the one you have here. I found a line with EndJob=PG0 but nothing else. Is that the right file?

I am trying the download thing for the driver right now. I cant remember my signlab password so am waiting the reminder.

    Thanks in Advance

Hope this is not a duplicate post.

In Signlab, go to Cut/Plotter Setup.
When in Plotter Setup, press ALT E on the keyboard.
This should bring up your Driver in NotePad.
Its just an ascii text file that you can edit.
Search for Tile= in the [Generic] section
    Make sure it reads
    Tile=!PG0
    That tile=exclamation markPG(zero) and not PG(oh)
Also make sure that EndJob= is blank
Once you make those changes, just resave the file in Notepad.

On the Roland 1210, go to “AXIS” then “AXIS ROTATION” and make sure its on <90 degree>

    thank you thank you

Its been 6 months of this and it is fixed. The driver.ini was fine, of all your suggestions the driver download is the one that fixed it. When we switched 6 mos ago it was downloaded then too but it must be the syntax error you were talking about.

My production manager is still in disbelief…..
