Just tried some of this jac’s vinyl from Victory today did a 7mtr x550mm sign on foamx, it weeds great and NOT 1 bubble in sight 😛 comes off the release paper with app tape fine and to tell you the truth i cannot fault this vinyl on the type of sign i did, i think it would have probs on the dips and channels of vans etc but a nice vinyl to use, any1 else used this stuff?

Victory sent me a thingy card (you know what i mean, colour chart thing) and a piece of JAC Serical, and of course, the price brochure. Not knowing one piece of vinyl from another just yet, i was going to ask if this stuff is ok.

This has been spoken about before, we used this when vinyl logistics supplied it. I never had any problems with it although for the money its not great value its only 4-5 year and you can get better vinyl cheaper, its quite thick and brittle in my opinion and its a no no on vans with any swage lines however it was ok to weed

I’m sure there is a higher grade available from Victory – JAC Serisign I think it’s called and it is a 5-7 year polymeric. I’m sure a call to Victory will confirm.

I think this vinyl i got was 3-5year and at £1 mtr + a free roll of App tape(must buy a full 50mtr roll though) its not bad value while the free Tape comes with it.

I may be horribly wrong here, but do I recall that JAC is the same face film as MacTac?

    Hi Alan

I was given 2 rolls by Victory when I bought my Summa from them and 2 rolls of app tape, the vinyl is everything that you and everybody else has said although I have not tried any others to compare.

The app tape was "Unitac" which I don’t like too much as it does not stick too well to the backing paper, but does do the job and again have not used any others to compare.

Thought I would give my thoughts on it seeing as you asked.

Funny thing was, when I requested a colour chart of their vinyls they sent me a different one (multi-fix) and not a Jac one 😮

one of the reasons i didnt take the offer on ….’buy one roll of vinyl get one roll of application tape free’ your right warren its not very good 😉

Because i only ordered 10mtrs to try i didnt get the app tape so carnt comment on the tape you have to buy a full 50mtr roll to get the free app tape, even if it is cheapy app tape im sure it could be used ok on budget sign jobs.

HI There — John i believe the relationship is between Avery/Jac rather than Mactac and Jac , Avery bought Jac a year or more ago , might be longer .. time flies !!

i found jac vinyl ok, very good to weed, as the rest said. Thick/brittle, but not good for extremeties.

Whats Alan on about ‘no bubbles’ :lol1: 😛

Was just about to start a new topic on this Vinyl and found this thread!

I have just been offered this deal too, glad to hear its OK, how does it compare to Mactac though – which is what we use at the mo? and is the vinyl thats on offer the 4-5 year grade or is it an economy range?

Also Alan – £1 a meter? is that right we were quoted slightly more? not much but just curios?

I think the deal is for the SeriCal which I’m sure is a monumeric callendered vinyl (3-5 year) Victory are also have Seri Sign which is a polymeric callendered vinyl but with only the most popular colours currently in stock but apparently choice will increase with time.
I’ve tried it and it is a nice soft film.

    I must mention again,

the application tape you get is CRA.P, I just spent 2 hours longer than I should have trying to apply and half the vinyl would not peel off with the application tape and stayed stuck to the backing paper…….nightmare.

but when it’s free it’s OK some of the time :lol1:

I am trying my first order of Oracal 751C, a bit harder to weed than the Jac and seems much thinner, other than that it was fine.

We phoned re this deal last week and everything was fine – as we don’t use this series we needed a swatch, by the time it arrived the deal was over (no mention when we asked for a swatch)

When this deal was mentioned it was grudgingly said well this time but never again. We just went back to our usual supplier (Mac tac).

    So deal over apparently!

i just tried JAC vinyl, was told it was the exact equivilant of my useal 5000 series from victory….it weeds ok but when applying to a van i found it very brittle and quite think, doesnt conform well on the panel resis, it could be because i was applying it in cold winds! but even doing sign boards i found it to be the same.

at 80pence a metre instaed of the useal 1.20 i pay for the 5000 series i wish it was better, but for me, i’d rather spend the extra and not have customers coming back complaining!

Jac is not a exact replacement for the MF 5000 series. I tried to use some to cover the bottom half of a takeaway’s windows. I mist sprayed it with water and it caused the colour on the adhesive side to streak which looked awful from the outside. Victory replaced it with MF. I have had trouble with the gold (moderate fine detail) not coming away from the backing paper with the Unitac application tape. For most jobs though I found JAC OK.

I don’t use the JAC Serical but the Serisign (polymeric) is good, I prefer it to the MF 7900 series because it cuts and weeds better and feels softer. Not all colours are available yet.

Just had a rep in. The current deal is buy two rolls and get one free.

That’s not a bad deal if you like the vinyl and need a lot of it, but personally I’m more interested in sustainable everyday prices rather than "cheap today – gone tomorrow" deals.
