Do you use a cast when feeding into simple steps on vehicles
Hi all. When feeding print into simple, single steps do you still upgrade to a cast or do you stick with a polymeric. Obviously if there was heating and stretching involved then its a no brainer.
With this design it would be fed in and heated. My instinct is to just use a standard poy but i always sleep better when i over spec it

I’d feed that in.
Apply the flat part where the KAS is, then work down, right into the bottom of the recess, then roll it round onto the lower panel. Same on the top part.
Make sure it’s nice and clean, and a bit of heat once it’s applied won’t hurt.
Provided you’re using a half decent poly it shouldn’t be a problem.

Exactly what i would do David. And have done in the past. I just keep seeing more and more cast used being used for more simple installs like this. It has me questioning myself sometimes.

I am starting to stock Arlon Fusion for this type of job, you can use a poly or cast laminate on it.
It’s also great for partial wraps and just do a cut and drop on the deep recesses saves a load of time and if you explain it to the customer most are happy with a small gap in the print.

Use a cast and sleep better at night.
Calendered vinyl will shrink away from the corner and water will get in.
Even if you feed it in correctly.
