I always use it unlaminated for interior work unless it’s subject to being cleaned or defaced.
If it is on a vehicle short term, I would give the customer the option of lamination or it will get dirty easily or fade fast.
However, we have some customers that do not mind the lamination being a regular laminate, rather than optically clear. But keep in mind that some laminates are much better than others with regard to how clear they are.
However, I am in no way saying they are “clear!” I have seen some very good, but also some bad examples to the point its like looking through a clear plastic bag! 🤨
all this said You are not going to get better clarity and protection than an optically clear laminate!
Something to consider and it’s easily made up and you will use it time and time again.
Ask your supplier for an A5 sample of the optically clear laminate.
Print an A3 of controvision and stick it to some clear acrylic.
Now laminate by hand, the A5 optically clear laminate.
Laminate by hand an A5 in your regular laminate
Mask off, and wipe an A5 section with a chemical and scratch it, showing deterioration.
you now have a sample to show the customer the different things that can happen, and how they look when you hold them up to the window, depending on the laminate you use.
