  • Displaying a CMYK chart… help!

    Chaps and Chapesses, Afternoon!

Ok, for a long time I have had a CMYK and a pantone to CMYK chart, both 1220×1220 printed, mounted on foam and fixed to the walll, I recently got rid in favour of wallpapering a large section. the idea being that as the chart is printed onto my preferred vinyl, using my preferred software, my rip and my printer… I know that if a customer chooses a particular colour from that chart, that’s what they’ll get – regardless of the actual value.

Anyone got any smart ideas on how to display it? Ideally I want to print it onto our higher grade vinyl and apply it to something, I need to keep it as accurate as poss but display in a more interesting or imaginative way!

I did consider making my large workbench one big 3m x 1.8m colour chart but don’t want people that end of the shop, not have to move everything to see it!

    thanks in advance.

How about one of those wall mounted poster displays you see in music shops with all the band posters you can buy?

Or similar thing, folds flat against a wall.

Bearing in mind that the lighting affects the colours, you either need something portable (that can be taken outside to view in natural light) or something mounted externaly. So why not part wrap your van with a colour chart?

Where about to do our office and looking for different things.

Looking through the sign waves catalogue and get some sort of stand, or the LED Perspex displays that’s are on wires that are normally for shop windows.

Saw a really cool pop up banners in a S style shape from a company someone recommended on here instead of ultima displays.. i was going to get one for us instead of our boring flat rectangle pop up.

To my surprise the form search pulled it up straight away.

Am going to get one of these. Quite like it.

    quote David Hammond:

That crossed my mind actually, not sure where I’d get one though? I could print onto an 8×4 composite and put on an outside wall.. !!

Phill, agreed but it shows the colours, I generally explain about different colours, lights, etc!

Chris, I thought about a roller banner but ceiling mounted do I could pull it down like a blind, want to try and keep it fairly compact and on a solid background.. I considered this type of display but it would be translucent to a degree, thanks though!

I googled it, and they’re available to buy, but I’m sure a man of your abilities could knock something similar up using composite panels.

Or have them hanging on sliders, similar to sliding wardrobe doors.

I’ve seen something like that in Ikea, thought it was quite a smart way, as they all slide behind each other.
