Just thought I’d try a test and see if I can get an image on the board ok.

Here is (hopefully) a pic of a sign which took me 18months of to and fro from the customer to finally get the go ahead on.
It was going to be internally and externally illuminated but the council put pay to that idea 😡

    Hope the pic works !

Thanks for your comments people – more info for those intersted…

The header panel and uprights are made from english green oak which were 7″ square in section and I “distressed” them to give them a more weathered & old look using an electric planer and various chissels. The header panel itself was eventually routed out on a cnc machine as I chickened out of doing all theat lettering by hand ! Its hard old stuff that oak and would have taken a long time. The header panel was glued to the uprights with mortice joints and locked in place with wooden pegs through the uprights. Both were treated with 2 coats of sadolin 5yr exterior wood stain and the routed letters were done using a darker shade to increase contrast a little.

The panels are silver powdercoated folded aluminium double sided trays. These are fixed to the uprights using some specially made polished stainless tube “top hat” shaped brackets which are tapped to accept csk stainless fixings through the ends of the alu pans.

The lettering/logos are vinyl faced laser cut clear acrylic fixed to the trays using vhb tape.

The uprights were sunk in the ground 900mm and concreted in with 3 bags of postfix each.

This is just the sort of job I love to get stuck into as it looks good (hopefully) when done and gives me all sorts of challenges along the way !

If anyone was interested I charged this out at £3800+vat which I felt was not too bad a price given the time taken to make and costly materials.

I’ll dig out some more stuff and post it up when I get a mo…
